Stephen Holster: Dayton Audio has surprised me with the quality of their speaker systems offered at very affordable prices. I got the 8" subwoofer after I had first gotten the
T-652 Air tower speakers which just seemed to need a little help on the bass end. The sub has done just that. With my 100watt Yamaha 2.0 amplifier music fills our living room with music. This speaker setup cost me right around $400 total. It sounds like I spent a lot more! I couldn't be happier!

Appleajaa: Decent for the price if I go all the way up on a bassy song it's kinda wonky like there is a rubbing sound but otherwise it's perfect for me. And it also shakes my room.

Toby Cummings: This is my first subwoofer that wasn't apart of a 2.1 computer speaker system. It works great with my bookshelf speakers. My mom uses them for drumming, and she couldn't be happier. I had trouble at first getting it going with my USB amp, but I found out I had to turn the hertz and gain up. And then it finally started booming. We've broken it in for several weeks, and it's doing really well.

Sunflower64: I never understood the people saying this speaker doesn't go deep enough, or can't fill a large room. Those people are spoiled $1000 sub audiophiles. If you are a normal person, who wants deep thundering bass for a cheap price hear me out.

The bass THUNDERS. It's SO deep I have to turn the volume down to nearly nothing at night so it doesn't disturb the neighbors. When I turn the gain up more then 3/4ths of the way (on low volume) I feel like my head is gearing to explode. It's so deep it feels like you're at a concert. Audiophiles are too picky man, unless you're trying to fill a massive room, you don't need the 1200. You don't need the 1000. This thing is a monster, it's like a foot tall, and the driver is 8". I came from a 4" sub I didn't know it could GET this massive or deep.

Along with being powerful, the sound quality you get for your money is unparalleled. I like to turn my speakers off sometimes and just listen to how detailed and tight the bass is. It's not boomy, there's no rattling noises, it's tight and clear, and adds depth to your music/show/game whatever. I've had subs before that sound boxy, artificial or fake, that is not the case. This thing is the...

arthur lyons: I just received my Dayton Audio Sub-800 last evening. It was dbbl boxed with thick styrofoam for
protection. A nice touch. No nitpicking from me either. The sound is superb after playing it at low volume.
It is much smaller than my Polk PSW-10 but blows it away. I am very impressed and happy.
I have it mated to Polk S20 bookshelf speakers on standa as my mains in a 2.0 sytem. My amp is a Yamaha
A301-S 2-channel integrated with 60x2 watts. my main music source is cd and I havr a Denon DCD 600NE
cd player. I love the sound as do my friends. My sub is well broken in & goes even deeper. I plan to buy
another one in 2022. Love the look & sound. Best sub out there for the money. Thanks Dayton Audio.

JD Lien: I'm not well equipped to judge the quality of a subwoofer as I don't have anything to directly compare with, but to my ears, the Dayton Audio SUB-800 sounds great, as professional audio reviewers have written numerous times. I'm pairing mine with the pair of Audioengine HD3s I have on my computer desk which are great speakers but light on the low frequencies. Adding the SUB-800 fills out the sound very nicely and adds punch to electronic music, making basslines sound much more engaging and immersive without being overly thumpy or rumbly (if properly adjusted).

I think the unit looks attractive and understated with a flat top and only a small logo on the front (not really removable as it's held in with pins in two holes) and a removable cover that velcros on. There is sufficient audio adjustment with a 40-140Hz crossover dial, a volume knob, and a phase toggle switch. High level input and output are available, as well as stereo or mono RCA inputs.

Using the RCA passthrough outputs on the Audioengine HD3 works fine with the SUB-800, but there is a minor issue - the auto-on feature of the SUB-800 is *not even close* to being sensitive enough, and with my HD3s you have...

R. J. Hunter: Very impressive performance for the price. In my classroom at school I have a pair of Audioengine A5+ speakers with the A8 subwoofer which fill a large room full of students very nicely. For a small (12ft x 12ft) room at home I decided that a pair of the A5+ speakers would do the job on their own. They are good (and go down to around 50 Hz), but I really felt they needed some filling in at the bottom end. I couldn't justify an expensive unit like the A8 for such a small space but I didn't want to ruin good music with something 'cheap' (boomy or mushy). Based on reviews I got the Dayton Sub-800, and I'm glad I did.

On the minus side it didn't come with any connecting cables. I have a bag of spare cables left over from other systems but for some users this might be a frustration, which is why I've given it 4 instead of 5 stars.

On the plus side: I plugged everything in, set crossover to 80 Hz and gain to halfway, powered up, started a liquid dubstep mix..... Huh? Couldn't hear the sub! Confusion for a second or two until I tried turning the gain up and things got boomy, turned the gain down and the bass disappeared. I hadn't expected this level of quality - when...
