Franchi Robert: J'ai acheté cet adaptateur pour palier la défaillance de la carte Wifi intégrée dans un ancien ordinateur portable Toshiba.
Il remplit parfaitement son rôle, le débit n'est pas génial, mais la rapidité de l'ordinateur y est sûrement pour quelque chose.
Il est reconnu sans problème par Windows 10.

JB: Was looking for a wireless adapter for my new Ubuntu build and purchased this based off of the previous reviews that indicated it worked with Ubuntu 18.04.02 LTS, which I can confirm it does. It's not exactly plug-and-play like in Windows, but it's still do-able for novices.

Once you plug the adapter in, open up Software & Updates > Additional Drivers tab. In there you should see D-Link Corp.: Unknown and an option to either "Do not use the device" or "Using dkms source for the r8812au network driver from rtl8812au-dkms (open source)". Choose that open source option and click Apply Changes. It might take a few minutes, but it should go through.

Note you may be prompted to enter a password for secure boot (this is called the MOK key) - go ahead and enter an easy-to-remember password (MOK key). After that, you'll need to reboot (it will most likely automatically prompt you to reboot, if not then just reboot manually). Pay attention during the reboot since you'll need to press the Enter key to enter the MOK key process (you'll see a window asking if you want to do this). Russell Phillips, D.O.: This was a replacement for an similar unit I got about 2 years ago. Both the older one and this one work very well. My office is not wired for a direct connection for my desktop so I have to rely on the WIFI. My tech guru said these only last for 2-3 years so replacement was to be expected. Shipping was fast. Installation took about 5 minutes.

Marshall L. Kiker: This thing rocks. I stress tested it by downloading and seeding a few Linix torrents at fulls speed. 50mbps down and 5 up. I let it run all day and not a hickup at all. I then plugged it into a laptop running Linux Mint and it just worked. My only advice to windows users is to skip using D-Links software. Instead use device manager to browse the CD for the driver or better yet download the latest drivers, unzip them (but do not run any program) and browse. If you are uncomfortable with that then use the software. I just don't like having extra stuff running on my machines.

Ama4086: This adapter works great with my new HP computer which does not have a dual band adapter (and it's very difficult to access for replacement).
I am using Windows 10...went to the D-Link web site and downloaded the installation package. It installed and runs like a champ. So many reviews said it didn't work with Windows 10 that I was reluctant to order it but I was anxious to try it out with my new D-Link dual band router. Over the years I have found that matching brands with computer gear usually has fewer problems.

I also saw a recommendation that the internal wireless adapters should be disabled but I'm not sure it's required. It appears to function properly with the internal adapters enabled so I don't bother with changing the settings.

John Christopher Scott: I was running D-Link 802.11n wireless adapter and router - it worked great until I was forced to move into an apartment. With a greater distance, a thicker all, and a crowded signal airspace, I was having a lot of trouble maintaining a wireless connection. Enter the Wireless AC system. The bars on my display didn't go up - I still had 3 out of 5, but my connection speed sure did! Suddenly I was downloading at my normal speeds - around a megabyte a second (not fantastic, but a damn sight better than I've done in the past). It's been reliable and easy to use ever since! Of course, I'm not using any of the really fancy features, but for a home router, it's fantastic.
