Amazon Customer: Bought these bike lights over a year ago. Quality seems very good. Front light is plenty bright. Switch between low and high, blinking and solid by pressing the button on the top. Press twice fast to go into ultra-bright mode. Rear light is also very bright, and has plenty of blinking options to annoy the rider behind you! Can also set the rear light to be solid-on, and can dim or brighten by pressing and holding the second button.
Knocking one star off only because it’s a pain to turn the lights off. To turn it on, you just have to press the power button once. To turn it off, you have to hold the power button down for a second or two. That doesn’t seem like a big deal, but when I get home from my night ride it’s just a nuisance hold down the button twice to turn both lights off. Why can’t it just have a second button so I can turn it off without having to hold for two seconds? That would be so much nicer. It’s those little details that make the difference!
Also, these lights come with a quick release so you can pop the lights off. I highly recommend taking the lights off whenever you park your bike. My girlfriend’s front light was stolen while she was in...

Marc Raymond: the only con is that they are too expensive

anotheraveragejoe: i use it to commute back home on mostly a road in the evenings that is not lit at all other than ambient light. Charge for front light in what I think is first mode(?), which is consistent light with interspersed brighter flashes - didn't adjust intensity either - seems to last about a couple of weeks (10-14 days) and then starts to get dimmer so I recharge it then. Rear light I don't know how long it lasts but definitely lasts longer (to be fair I have it on a flashing mode), and I charge it same time as front light for convenience. Front light seems to be about as bright as a car light, maybe slightly less, and obviously lights up less of an area, but quite convenient for a bicycle. very happy

AlexMero: Lo bueno:

Amazon Customer: The headlight is similar to my Metro, which has 400 lm, but this unit is rated at 450, and side-by-side, it looks less bright than my Metro. It is a smaller body also, which is not a big issue, but it looks less conspicuous on the bar. The battery life is similar to that of its Metro cousin, or about 70 minutes on the brightest setting. Adequate for my commute, but certainly not great. Again, very similar to the Metro.
The rear tail light is decent, but its unidirectional. That is to say that unless you're viewing directly from behind it's brightness drops off significantly. It is quite bright when view directly from behind. I normally run more than one light, so it's not as big an issue.
The mount is decent, and you can easily slide off the light for charging. If, however, you use the same light for more than one bike then it's a bit of a hassle to do every time.

Christopher Hansen: The mini USB is a drag, but the small inconvenience doesn't take away from a great combo. I throw a mini USB cord in my bag so I can charge wherever.
The battery life is impressive. I've used the burst mode for 3 hours and the steady pulse for 3 hours on the Streak and have yet to charge it. These are great safety modes that are not offered on every headlight. Everything I've read is that Cygolite's modes are the best and I have to agree.
I have used the pulse mode on the Hotshot for a total of 6 hours without a charge. Overall, the rated battery life is accurate to conservative.
The Streak headlight is plenty bright. There is more of a hot spot than some other lights, but I actually appreciate this vs a wide net of light because its nice to see potholes in advance.
The mount is good. I feel like it is more secure than a stretchy rubber band, but placement was a little more tricky on my road bike.
The strobe effect of the Hotshot, I feel is is the best balance for a single light. Blinking attracts attention and steady helps gauge distance. Two lights would be better, but I feel this one mode is a good middle ground.
You can do better, but...

Samuel M.: I bought this set to help me commute at night, and to be seen. Oh man, am I seen! The rear light is one bright sucker, and I really like how I can choose between steady, triple pulse with steady, triple pulse without steady, and blinking at intervals set by you. Very customizable, so you can have it on very bright while you're in a dangerous area with car traffic, and turn it to a much lower, battery saving setting while you're on a dedicated bike trail.
The front light is great for being seen as well, it has the five settings of which I usually use either the triple pulse setting or the daylight strobe setting. My only complaint with the front light is that while it's raining it can be hard to see the road in front of you if there's a lot of light in front of you. For example, on my commute home I ride on a dedicated bike-only trail beside a very busy road. The way it's laid out means that I ride facing the traffic beside me, and their headlights can wash out this front light if it's wet or raining outside. I think it's because the light is so small, so that its reflector lens can't compete with car headlights.
Long story short: It's a very good purchase and value...

Jeremy: Very lightweight, compact & easy on the wallet. I really like the "SteadyPulse" feature. Light stays on & is bright enough to see the road to avoid hazards in your path. It has two quick bright pulses to grab the attention drivers and or pedestrians. Sure there are brighter lights out there, but they are blinding & their intense strobe setting make them almost seizure inducing. I have been blinded by cyclists with ultra high power strobes & you don't want a blinded driver coming at you head on. It can be extremely dangerous for cycler & driver. 200 - 300 lumens is more than enough power in most situations. Usb charging is a no brainer. No more batteries to buy & everyone has a cell phone charger. Run time is just over 3 hours on Steady Pulse. I have read some negative reviews for the Cygolite front mount, so I went with the "Streak 280". It is the lightest model at 90 grams or 3.17 ounces. I have ridden over some rough bumps & it has held up fine. No problems yet of the light tilting or mounting screw loosening up. If it does happen, I will update this review. I Highly recommend this light set!!!

astro: The headlight functions well. It is very bright even in daylight. The taillight is also satisfactory. The only issue has been the headlight holder coming loose because of the tapered handlebar it is mounted on - not the fault of the light design of course.
