The CRKT Halfachance Fixed Blade Parang Machete is a must-have for any outdoor enthusiast. With an 18-inch black powder coated carbon steel blade and a nylon sheath, this parang style machete is the perfect tool for survival, hunting, and camping. It is one of the best Fixed Blade Hunting Knives available, designed with ergonomics, build quality, and size in mind to ensure maximum satisfaction. The K920KKP model is a reliable and powerful tool that can handle any outdoor job.Alex: Decent knife but the handle is pretty cheap. Taken it on 2 backcountry trips and the rubber handle is starting to fail. Grip has torn and the blade is no longer firm in the grip. Bit disappointing since I have a knife that cost 1/5th the price and made with the same materials but is still in great shape.

JoLe: I use this a fair amount on my farm, so quality is important to me. This machete has a substantial blade and a very comfortable handle. The steel in the blade is hard enough to keep an edge to get through brush and even small trees, but sharpens well using a diamond sharpener. The tool is well balanced so that each swing cuts well, whether you’re chopping near the handle or out towards the tip of the blade. And it comes with a nice scabbard that will easily hang from your belt.

Loren ray: I was, am very impressed with the outabox cutting edge! It cuts vines without that annoying RINGARINGARINGAH. Smooth black coating is nice. Be aware that the hollow rivets are pushed in from either side with rubber bits in the holes. Trying to push the lanyard in may be nighunto impossible. I tried a 11/32 drill bit, but it pushed and pulled the decorative rivets out. After I cleared out the holes I could gently tap the hollow half rivets back into the rubber. I chamfered them to accept lanlards. The rubber handle is man size. A bit blocky, which helped avoid deflection off old black berry vines! At 66, I am more into shorter, medium weight tools. The old 22 inch machette is retired as clumsy and too long to kneel with sheath. The chance in hell sheath is cool looking, but allows the hilt to escape if you flip it upside down. I added an extra tie down with the extra lanyard included. It is a very nice belt carry tool for kneeling! A wrist lanyard attatched is comforting! A few minutes on a fine stone makes a mirror edge. A vegioil wipe and a custom lanyard loop to coat hanger made me grin! My ka bars and okc knives all had a rough grind edge that took a lot of finish work to...

Tara: It has a nice heaviness to it, the handle looks better then the CRKT KUK, will update after use*
I like the sheath with it’s 3 snaps.
When on my belt, the tip reaches my knee (I’m 5’5”). Comes with a lanyard, but I don’t think I’ll use that. I look forward to using this blade tomorrow, will give proper review after that.
UPDATE
Used this blade to chop down a 25ft birch approx 8” thick in seconds.
Used on 20ft pine approx 10” thick, chopped into logs, took a while because of softwood, overall extremely satisfied.
Huge blister on my palm though for chopping 2 hours straight. Still love the blade.

Raynold: I liked the shape of the machete and the handle, the sheaf felt ike high grade material but the value of the machete was kind of expensive, if your trying to find a machete under 100 bucks, this one will do the job.

A Guy in Ontario: Product came as described.
The handle is very comfortable and did not leave my hand with the common palm pressure soreness after hours of use.
I took it out in the fields to aid in clearing some brush lines for a day of heavy use. In my opinion, way more effective than loppers, but I did have a few knicks on the edge of the blade after use. I think after heavy use you'd have to obviously file and re-edge the blade, which I did and it's ready for use again.

Tolles Teil

Scott E. High: Back in 1994 when I bought my waterfront property in Southwest Florida the first bid I got to (legally) trim my mangroves was $1,000.00. Even then I thought that the price was outrageous and I decided to do it myself. Needless to say it involves a lot of time and and some really good cutting tools (and skills). There's not a lot of room for maneuvering in the wetlands, the footing is hazardous, the flora and fauna always a challenge (most Florida plants either have thorns or some type of poison), and the bugs can drive you nuts. Now that I think about it, maybe the $1,000.00 would have been money well spent.
Now at age 67 the current bid for the same job is up to $8,000.00. Either the workers are a lot smarter or they don't really want to do this type of work. About 10 years ago I had some major surgery and had to hire three people to do the job for me. When I was watching them the youngest picked up and held a very pretty snake for his father to see, causing me to yell at his father to "put it down". I was really surprised to find out that they didn't know what a coral snake was. That hiring experience also resulted in all of my tools being damaged to the poiint of no...

papa diesel: If you're looking for a big knife or a small machete that is easy to handle, this is the one for you. Compared to the Kershaw Camp Knife of the same size, this is more like a big knife with it's 1/8" thick blade. The handle is purposely angled downward much more than your standard machete which feels curious at first but provides maximum ergonomic leverage for thrusting attacks. It will shine as an all purpose knife/small machete, doing your daily chores or defending one's self with ease. But as a survival knife, I would opt for the Kershaw with it's 1/4" thick blade, Kydex sheath and more robust construction. However, the CRKT is well-designed with its grippy, Kraton rubber handle with 5 holes drilled through giving you various lanyard placement options. A word of caution with the ballistic nylon sheath - 3/4 of the way up the front of the sheath is open and only secured by 2 straps. If you're a right-hander like me, you would hold the sheath with your left hand while sheathing the knife with your right. You need to make darn sure that you bias the blade part of the sheath as you slide it in otherwise the blade tip has a tendency to exit the open section and slice your thumb wide...
