Introducing the Chamberlain Group B503C Ultra-Quiet & Strong Belt Drive Garage Door Opener! This opener is designed to be easy to install and set up, with a build quality that is sure to last. It features triband technology that boosts the remote range up to 1,500 feet, so you can quickly enter and exit your garage. The built-in steel reinforced belt drive system ensures reliable, smooth, and quiet performance. It also comes with two 3 button remote controls, allowing you to easily control up to 3 openers. With motion detection and MED lifting power, this is one of the best Garage Door Openers on the market! Prisoner of Planet Moron: My home was constructed in 1992 and was equipped with a pair of LiftMaster 1/3HP openers (single door, double door).
Although the LIftMasters were still chugging along 26 years later, they were undeniably noisy and were unlikely to make it another 26 years (ditto for me).
Time for an upgrade (for the openers, at least!).
I contacted a nationally known firm specializing in garage door openers and installation services. It took some determined prying to obtain a preliminary estimate from a representative over the phone --- $700 (and up) for installing a single WiFi opener.
Time to check out Amazon!
I purchased a Chamberlain B503 opener. My plan was to install this on the single door. If that effort was successful, purchase a B550 with MyQ and let the B550 be the hub for the B503.
I had never replaced an opener before, so I approached this project with a certain amount of apprehension. Being 79 years old didn't help, either!
Since this was a replacement, rather than a new installation, I was able to use existing ceiling supports and door fittings.
NET: Installed w/o problems, w/o reference to videos, w/o assistance from anyone...

Shlomo E.: My old Chamberlain from 2005 just stopped working, after a perfect 13 year run. It had a chain drive and was very noisy, but always worked. I decided to stay with same brand.
This new unit is very nice, very quiet. Has double light bulb sockets, on opposite sides, facing opposite direction. Very nice touch, a lot more light. YOU CANNOT USE LED BULBS, as they will interfere with the remote control signals. I use two CFLs.
It includes two remotes, the main wall unit and the motion detectors at base of door, as well as the belt and track unit andall hardware necessary for complete install. The wall unit is a huge upgrade from my old single switch: it has a separate button to turn on/off lights, independently from having to cycle the door to make the lights turn on. I really like that feature, the two CFLs on the unit light up my whole one car garage. Also, the wall unit is where the programming button is located in order to “learn” other remotes; no more getting on a ladder to press a button on the opener. The wall unit also has a “lock” feature that prevents door crom being opened via remote...in case one of your remotes is stolen, you can lock door and have peace of...
