Bob Counts: The heating element in this kit is not very sturdy. After just an hour or so of using it as a wood burner it started to bend and the tips wouldn't stay tightened in the heating element.

I ended up using the tips from this kit with the heating element from a much cheaper wood-burner that I bought at Hobby Lobby for about 1/3 the price.

This kit seems much more suited for soldering than wood burning.

Allen M.: I was skeptical of this burner in the first place because I thought the design of it was needlessly intricate - in my experience the more involved a design is, the more things there are to go wrong with it. I bought it anyway because I wanted a high powered burner, and this seemed to be the best for the money. I should have gone with my first instinct and bought a simpler unit. Give me a burner that has a power cord, heating element, burning tip and a solid handle to hold it all together. Period. I ran into problems with this one from the git-go; the retaining collars (both provided) got so quickly distorted from the heat that within days of purchase it became impossible to change tips. Inconvenient, yes... but not really a problem as I like to keep at least 3 burners on hand at all times so I don't have to switch out the tips I use most often. I was prepared to forgive that fault, and if the burner had given me so much as one year of (otherwise) trouble free use, I wouldn't have complained; but it only gave me 3 months. I guess the moral is, stick with your instinct... and read the reviews. I'm pretty sure I'm not the first person to make this particular complaint.

Jess and Brendan Fahey: I've only used this tool maybe a handful of times since I bought it and it has stopped heating up. Luckily the tips fit another wood burner that I have so its not a total loss

Reediting review because the customer service was amazing. I got a full refund for the return (they had said I don't need to return for a full refund but I had already returned the item before they reached out to me) and the team sent me a new kit for free. The packaging for the new kit was much better than what I had previously received and came perfectly fine. Very very good customer service and the product was fine after being replaced.

The chisel tip, which is the main tip/tool used (at least for me), had an extra piece at the end and therefore made it very difficult to use correctly. It was made very poorly (see attached images, it should not have the extra little piece at the end - should be a chisel). Poor quality. The pen also came broken - plastic was broken and cracked (see attached images).

Paige: I really enjoy this wood burning kit. I think it is great for beginners. I was able to create many beautiful wood burning pieces with this kit. The temperature control was very helpful, as well as the various tips included with the kit to create different patterns/shadings. The customer service for this seller is also amazing. I had an issue with the original product breaking shortly after purchasing it. The customer support reached out and was extremely helpful and kind. I was fortunate enough to receive a new product in perfect working condition. This seller really cares about their customers and their experience with their product(s). I HIGHLY recommend.
