PoLander: I pondered getting a new meter. I prefer USA manufactured, but settled for this Chinese made. It does well. No complaints.

Amazon Customer: Bought this moisture meter after some flood damage to my home .Many of the tradies who worked on my restoration had a similar unit .Can't compare it to what they are using but I believe what it tells me and that is that a good thing .

Chris: We mainly use it for checking if our firewood is seasoned enough. Have also used it to check for moisture in a wall. Easy to use. Easy to read the screen.

Marey M.Marey M.: This seemed to be a great product, but I was not aware at first that the sensor pad was defective. When an engineer did readings around my window with his own meter he pointed out the sensor pad readings on the AccuMaster were wildly inaccurate. If the moisture were really 80% – 99%, the drywall would have to be dripping wet. Readings with pins seem to be fine. It was too late to do a return through Amazon so I contacted the company, but ultimately they couldn't do anything to fix it.
UPDATE: The vendor, Calculated Industries, sent me a replacement meter so have revised my rating from 1 star to 4. I have to take 1 star off as the customer service was somewhat lacking. I had originally exchanged 15 emails over 2 months and then heard nothing more. I even asked about a warranty. I then contacted Amazon customer service who referred me back to the company again, as the window for a return was closed, but there is a 1-year warranty. It was only after a formal letter to Calculated Industries that I was mailed a replacement. I was skeptical that it could just be anther dud, but the difference in readings with the senor pad was dramatic. So, finally, I have what appears to be a...

Paul S: Background:
I've had this meter for a year, but didn't trust it nor did I fully understand how it works.
We live 2 blocks from the SF Bay with a high water table and high relative humidity.
We're installing wood floors over concrete as well as on subfloors over crawlspace.
Since we requested full moisture tests, our floor installer came by yesterday with his high priced
meters for Concrete (both surface and drilled plugs), wood pin, and Relative humidity.
I asked him the price of one of his meters and I heard $600!!!
Checked out the concrete surface with the pad on "Bldg Materials" setting, and it was identical it his!
(HEADSUP: I was getting 10% lower concrete reading until he ground down the surface glue....
so make sure you are down on bare concrete)
Also used the pins on "Wood" setting and we both got identical 11.8% on the existing hallway red oak.
(CAVEAT: His pins were much sturdier than the Accumaster pins, and I'm sure can take much more abuse. For occasional use for me this is perfect as I'm very gentle with it and carefully insert the pins straight in with the grain. You do have to push to get them in 1/4")
This is unrelated...

The Real Marky Mark!: I'm a licensed Master Service Plumber and have had lots of different moisture meters back in my early days they were a very expensive tool to own now the markets flooded with all sort Well in my opinion this little guy is the best bang for the buck it's small very accurate the tips to probe can be replaced but no idea where to get them but they do unscrew so far I'm good and have yet to break yet but they are metal and will push into wood or drywall no problem and just snap off like some pos units I have had I love the back lite screen its very nice and its has fractional measurement the best is the ringer bell noises it makes when it's in stuff that's wet I love it its the sound of money to me! It will make most home owners start to.make odd weird Cringe faces but that's what its meant to do find out if this leak in wall or whatever has spread more than it may show face value I use it weekly along with my Flir Thermal Camera to pinpoint leaks before I swiss cheese the walls or ceilings to discover of such a leak so if your in the trades and looking for one of these look no further its perfect and hey if you drop it off a 12 foot ladder been there done that but hey no big deal...

TreeFarmer: This is my first moisture meter, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm very pleased with it. I use it for checking my firewood to see if it's ready to burn. It seems very well built. You have to push with a little force to get the prongs to go into the wood and I was a bit worried that those little pins might be fragile, but they are not. They are sturdy and the case seems to be up to the task as well.
I've played around with it a bit - testing a piece of wood and then leaving it in the house for a while and everytime I test it again, the moisture level has gone down just as you would think it should. I like the fact that it will shut itself off if I forget to do it. One little surprise feature is the beeping that indicates moisture level. If the level is really low, the beeping is slow. Then as you go up in moisture, it beeps faster. The cutoff for burnable firewood is 20% and if the unit measures over 20% is beeps quite fast, sort of like It's saying, "This wood is not ready!".
I should also mention that the readings I get are consistent with what I see when I burn the wood. If I measure a piece at say 18%, it lights right up and burns with no steaming or...

Randy Reynolds: I like its ease of use.
I worry about the pins. They kept loosening as I use it. I have to be careful to keep them screwed down all the way.
