Brian D.: I had a leak in my house that damaged a 6x10 foot area of hardwood floor. This "Dr.meter" Wood Moisture Meter helped me pinpoint all the water under the floor, so I could tell how many boards to pull up. It's as easy to use as a stud-finder.
I had a water remediation company come out, so I compared the Dr.meter to their $650 ProtiMeter SurveyMaster, and the results were essentially identical. The only shortcoming was that this only has a 0% - 35% reading for hardwood floors, versus the ProtiMeter's 0001-9999 relative readings; but it really didn't matter for real-life use. My undamaged hardwood floors measured 7% - 11% moisture content, and the slightly damp areas measured about 12% - 20%, and the wet moldy areas measured about 21% - 35%. I marked the bad areas with blue painter's tape, then started pulling up the flooring. Once I pulled the boards up, I could easily see the water staining on the sub-floor, which matched my tape marks, proving that the meter accurately found all the wet damaged areas!
It worked equally well for drywall; the meter showed no water got into my walls. The water remediation company pulled out the drywall anyway, just in case, but it turns...

Consumption Gumption: But glad I purchase it after much comparisons. Still working today and seems accurate data so far.
I like to mostly leave reviews now after several months or at the most when appropriate for the use/utility of the product up to a year of ownership and performance to inform other consumers like they informed me of my purchase--when I would be relying on their reviews for quality and useful products for our house and family. Just paying it forward. This one is worth the price and quality!
I bought this pin moisture tester along with a psychrometer and infrared meter same year last year as new homeowners. (Also writing reviews on them if you want recommendations) T moisture tester and those other two meters are good to always have on hand to test your household environment for safety and prevent costly repairs. Especially if you see or smell something odd/off in the basement. Also good idea to buy leak sensors like we did.

Monroe Tart: The meter was easy to use. Instructions were easy to follow, however, for some reason, if I change the approach, for example checking the front side and it recorded 39% but reaching over the top to reach the back side and it records zero%. I can move back to the front and it would show 39% or something similar. It happened several times. Not sure I can trust either number. However on the same side, the numbers were repeatable.

Amazon Customer: Seems relatively accurate. Identified some damp areas in my caravan. Like the ability to use the device without poking pins into decorated surfaces. The backlight and hold function is good for using in poorly lit areas.
