Travel Coach: This model AC1L USB-3 WiFi dongle for Linux worked right out of the package on my AArch64/Arm64 SoC Ubuntu system on my SBC. I read somewhere that you must first install the Linux drivers 'before' inserting the dongle into the USB, but this is not correct. The dongle is preloaded with the drivers and works "Plug 'n Play." I first attempted to install the drivers according to what I had read, but the installation returned errors. I emailed support who replied within 24 hours. They advised that I remove the drivers and simply use the dongle as is. It indeed worked, as advertised! Do not attempt to install drivers unless the device does not work on your system as a Plug 'n Play device. If you do need technical assistance, BrosTrend customer support is very helpful and quick to respond.

J C.: Found this easy to install after downloading drivers from Bros Trend website and finding how to disable internal broadcom wifi card in my ancient Samsung laptop.

Am running Zorin 16.3 64 bit and am now getting consistent 130Mbps connection via USB2 one floor away from Community Fibre Linksys router. That's at least 4x faster than previously. Much smoother experience with videos and streaming music.

Great value for money and excellent support from BrosTrend technical people via email.

Only downside is width of device which blocks adjacent USB port. But its neat and hey - you cant have everything !

Roger C. Emerick: Works perfectly but ... the only drawback is when I plug it into my Dell Inspiron laptop usb (left or right side), there are other ports around it, usb, scan disk, ethernet .... the device is just a smidgen too wide to allow other devices to be plugged in next to it. Wish is was slightly narrower ... or ... came with a 'very flexible' usb extension cord, ~12" (not a thick, hard to bend cord).

R. L. Copple: I gave this unit four stars only because once you have the adapter installed, it does the job well that it is designed to do. What exactly is it designed to do? That is part of where the catch comes in. It says it "works on Linux" but really they should have said it works on Debian based distributions. Others, which are not officially supported, they also provided instructions for on the web. I had in mind that this adapter would work to aid me in installing distributions to try out (I do distro reviews on YouTube). The first one I installed it into was a Debian based system, and the instructions were pretty clear on how to do it, even if a bit outdated (no need to add "busybox" onto the command, unless you are installing it on an ancient system). But you run one command and it is installed.

That's fine for existing systems, but you have to have a LAN connection until you get it installed. Especially if and when you install a new system. So I would literally have to install it every time I tried out a new distro on my computer, and I can't do that without installing the distro first. Concernant Linux:

Sur le mini CD fourni on trouve seulement une procédure d'installation (en anglais).
Tout pourrait bien se passer MAIS : l'adresse du dépôt du driver fournie dans la procédure(deb.trendtechcn.com) n'est plus valide.
Suite à quelques recherches voici comment il m'a fallu procéder:

J'ai avant tout branché la clé comme indiqué , puis:

1. Ajout de la bonne IP du dépôt dans le fichier host de ma machine:
sudo -i
echo "185.199.108.153 deb.trendtechcn.com" >> /etc/hosts
(adresse fournie par le support technique)

2.Téléchargement du script d'installation via un navigateur à cette adresse:
deb.trendtechcn.com/install

3.Clic droit dur le fichier "install" , propriété, puis cocher quelque part "rendre exécutable". (ou en ligne de commande : "chmod ugo+x install" ).

4. Exécution du script dans une console avec les droits roots (sudo).

Le driver s'est alors installé , la clé s'est allumée .

On peut ensuite retirer l'adresse ajoutée au fichier host avec la commande...
