Customer: We use this product to perc coffee, since my percolator isn't induction-compatible. We crank this thing full on to heat the water fast, then turn it down to perc after 15 minutes. It always heats up in the same amount of time, and then we can set it to the same number ("5" in this case) every time to achieve the same result. This means that the temperature controller has been extremely repeatable and, over one year of being abused, reliable.

You have to be aware that the iron plate has a huge thermal mass, so it takes a long time to heat up AND cool down. Another downside is that with prolonged heating the outer case also gets hot. Still, given all that the product does what it's supposed to do, splendidly.

S. Wallace: Got this for the travel trailer because it's small and I can store it easily. It's replacing my old single coil burner that just quit in the middle of cooking one day. The new Broiler King single burner is so much better it's in an entirely different class. NO HOT SPOTS, easy to clean (unlike the old one which was impossible to clean right) and very even heat whatever setting you use. It's very stable when a pan is on it because the burner is 8" wide. The base is heavy and the feet have a very good grip on the counter surface. It's feels safer to use because of it's stability. I'm impressed with the quality also. It's more expensive but as my Dad used to say "you get what you pay for." So true.
