Chris L: An excellent product with a more than needed heat output - surprisingly efficient - easy to use and can cook quality meals on the two burners - even a wok can be readily used. Use at home or even at hotels when on a driving vacation / trip. No issues but cannot comment on the life expectancy ?!

The heat light setting isn't very user friendly. It turns off even before the knob reaches min heat symbol which is confusing

Yvonne Harue: I've had this product for about two weeks now and have used it twice. Once to fry eggs and other to cook a big pot of a chicken recipe. Each time I used it I felt that it heated the pans in a decent time. I like that it has the knob to adjust heating very easily.

James: I like this hotplate for when I'm using a cast iron skillet on top of it. Since cast iron holds heat pretty well, it works well for scrambling or frying eggs, or frying ham slices, or anything that can sit right on the surface of the skillet or pot. The reason I bring that up is because of the weird thermostat control even when it set high as it can go. They tell you to preheat the burner before putting a pot or pan on it ,which I usually do until it shuts itself off for the first time. That usually takes about 5-6-7 minutes. By that time, you can actually see the cast iron hot plate top glowing red slightly. But that's where the weird stuff starts happening regarding the thermostat. Once you put whatever on top of the burner, the thermometer won't stay on longer than about 5-10 seconds at a time before shutting itself off. Sometimes, it'll stay on 2-3 seconds before shutting itself off. This is not a hotplate that I'd try to use to cook something like beans, or anything that would normally take a long time to cook like corned beef or something; I'd imagine that it could easily take 24 hours...no joke. Anne F.: The hotplate arrived on time and in good condition. It feels solid with enough weight to prevent it from sliding around when you're using it. As suggested I turned the burner on to preheat and burn off any oil residue while I retrieved the kettle and filled it with water. There was minimal odor. The hotplate reached and maintained maximum temperature as evidenced by the light cutting on and off. I am pleased to say that the water did reach a full rolling boil. Although slightly warm the handles were comfortable to the touch and by no means were they hot. I purchased this unit to use with a stovetop oven, etc., in my little travel trailer. I have no doubt it will meet my needs completely.

Kim S.: I've had several types of electric hotplates. All others shrink compared to this one.

That said, I gave it 4 stars because I have found, over time, it doesn't seem to get as hot as it did when new (had it about a year now, I think).

Also, the plate is SLIGHTLY small for our large cast iron pan. We still use it but it shakes the nerves a little as the pan is not quite as stable as it should be and doesn't heat as evenly as it should (pretty evenly but still not as evenly as it should) due to the "foot" not being in good, solid contact all the way around.

Still, we are able to make homemade tortillas, omelettes, bacon, crepes, etc. quite successfully even though the plate is a touch (couple mm?) small.

I am not sorry we bought it. Even a year later I watch for one I think might have a bigger plate and stay as hot but have not found one that compares.
