Mary Spry: This is the fifth book I have read in the Bree Taggert series and it didn’t disappoint! I was so impressed with the first book of hers that I read ( Bree Taggert Book 5) I decided to start the series from the beginning. She is a wonderful storyteller and manages to keep me enthralled the whole way thru. I recommend anyone who loves crime/mystery to take a look, it’s definitely worth it!

christine: This has been my favorite so far. Breed past comes full circle as she investigates a 30 year old murder. There are twist and turns that will keep you reading and wanting more. If you like detective mystery/thrillers then this book series is for you. I highly recommend. Happy reading

Thomas G. Peterson: A smashing finish to a great novel. Bree's Family history becomes an intricate part of this story as it becomes the heart of all the mayhem! However the end result seems to set Bree and her family free.

miss elaine m worby: Once again Melinda Leigh has produced a brilliant crime story with plenty of action, intrigue and introduces more interesting and devious characters to the mix. I could not put this book down and it had me really engaged and invested in finding out who the killer was. On to the next one in the series.

Hornblower: A good read. You will find yourself drawn into the lives of the main characters. Sharing their hopes and fears, worrying about the decisions they have to make and at the finish looking for their next adventure.

Kindle Customer: Melinda's central character Bree is believable, likeable, but human. Flawed. Like the rest of us. We pull for her, identify with her. We appreciate her struggles with the past and hopes barely recognized for the future. À writer myself, with a family history not unlike detective Taggert's, Ms. Leigh's characters seem genuine and fleshed out, intriguing, frustrating, loveable. The "bad guys" are identifiable, but not every one of them is always all bad. Does that make sense? Melinda Taggert's Bree Taggert series has me reading into the wee small hours. Then clicking on "Next in series," which I'll do now...

Pansy Petal: Brew is such a strong, resilient character - with a few flaws - like every one else. But she is recognizing her her flaws and working to change them. Not an easy thing to do, especially if you are the Sheriff of the county working on a thirty year old murder mystery. Lots of twists and turns added to the growing pains of letting go of the past and embracing a future. Lovely story.

erinaf: This was a really great addition to this series - I'd rate it 4.5. When two bodies are found in a shallow grave at her childhood house where her parents' murder-suicide occurred, the past comes knocking for our favourite Sheriff. Remembering how violent and cruel her father could be, Bree's left wondering if he could have been involved or responsible for the thirty year old cold case, or is something (or someone) more sinister at play? As memories she thought were long buried start resurfacing, Bree is forced to face her past and reconcile it with her future.
While the murder wasn't overly graphic, I found the case held my attention for the entire book. There wasn't a huge pool of suspects so the who dunnit wasn't exactly groundbreaking (and a couple of the suspects just seemed to disappear and be non-issues as you didn't hear about them again), but the lead up to finding out had just the right amount of suspense and action to keep me turning the pages. I found it was more luck that seemed to solve the case in this one, but like I said, it was still entertaining. There's the usual goings-on with Bree trying to manage her sheriff responsibilities with next to no funding and...

Shona Eden: What a great story had to force myself to put the book down so I could get on with life. But it is a great read.
