Brabantia 50m Lift-O-Matic Outdoor Clothesline - Easily Adjustable Height & Line Tension

A. Proudfoot: Been using a Brabantia rotary line for years, my strings and ratchet mechanism eventually wore out and so treated myself to a new one...

This one is even better, smooth to lift up, easily fixes at perfect height, comes with an easy to fit cover and a robust peg bag...though I prefer one I can hang around my neck... and also comes with a new ground stake ( though would have preferred option to not buy this as mine fits in existing concrete hole.

Overall, brilliant piece of kit, not cheap by any means but definitely works perfectly.

roger hardcastle: I bought the 50m version. I would have bought the 40m one if I could have found it at a good price.
I used Postcrete to install the lawn socket. The soil in my garden is highly compacted and I could not drive the socket in. I dug a hole with a spade and used the concrete mix. Make sure you have a spirit level to ensure the pole is vertical. I mounted the socket top level with my lawn but only filled the hole within an inch or so of the top to allow the grass to grow upto the pole. I treated myself to some stainless steel clothes pegs which will never corrode and I leave them on the rotary dryer lines.

Tim Holmes: Really sturdy and has tonnes of space as I can get easily three to four loads of washing on it. I get caught under the wires when putting it down every time and can’t figure out how to do this without getting caught in them. Not a problem but I laugh at myself untangling myself from it every time. The clip to fold down goes a long way down the pole and is impossible to do from a distance.you see. I would however recommend this above any other rotary airer.

KenC: I was impressed with the quality of this product and the way it was packaged. It came with a zip up rain cover, a bag for the pegs and about 24 pegs. The problem I had was getting the huge spike into the ground. I used the biggest hammer I've got but the spike is still proud of the ground by about 1.5 inches. I think, in part, this is because of the huge size of the spike.

However, product opens and closes with ease and the lines look very sturdy. A great product and let's hope it lasts for many years.

S. Meyers: Brabantia is a well respected European brand and I was confident in purchasing this washing line that the quality would be good. So far I have not been proven wrong; I love my washing line, or whirligig as we call it. Its sturdy. Its big enough for sheets and duvets. Its easy to put up (and take down). It came with a handy clothes peg bag and cover. We were recently hit with a derecho and I had no time to get outside and take it down. It handled it like a champ and stayed put in the ground. Very happy and wish I had got this years ago.

Gina: I was concerned about it being too tall - I'm 5'3" and it's perfect for me - - love that it spins and the extras that came with it. The first time we hammered in the ground spike, we just eyeballed it and it was not level - a little bit off and it is really crooked with the pole in! I dug at one side and was able to reposition it using a level. We have heavy clay soil so that worked okay. Love that I can remove the whole thing and put it away too! So happy with this purchase!

tiolazztiolazz: My dryer went out the day after the local stay-at-home orders and I wasn’t going to call for service no way, no how so I started hanging my clothes out to dry. When I was a kid we didn’t have a dryer and my hubs is from Italy and they all hang out their clothes so I thought why not. I had a little stand to lay sweaters on but that just wasn’t doing the job. I looked on Amazon and checked out many, rides n this one and tadah I am going old-school! I absolutely love it! My kids even tried to buy me a new used dryer and have it delivered but I told them no thanks. My clothes smell great, they are so fresh! Towels are a little stiff but I really find them to be more absorbent after hanging to dry! I’m just so happy to have it and not missing the electric dryer at all. Added extra my electric bill went down significantly and that’s with us being at home 24/7 for the past two months. Never knew my electric dryer cost so much! Winning!

Internet CPA: Any of these umbrella clotheslines will work -- for at least a year or two. This Brabantia is so much better than the first one I had that I just know it will last as long as I take good care of it. My old one had a simple open pipe you pounded into the ground to hold it upright. Eventually, the force of the wind and the constant turning of the shaft caused the dirt around the pipe to compact outward so when I pulled the shaft out to take it inside and hang it up out of the weather, the pipe came out, too. This Brabantia has a heavy steel, long, finned pipe that goes down a good 10 inches and has a cap so it doesn't fill up with water when the unit is in storage for the season. The shaft on this Brabantia is twice as big around as my old one. This one came with a vinyl cover to zip over it when it is folded up so I don't have to take it in to keep the lines from deteriorating from exposure to the weather. That was a pain with the old one and, finally, we started leaving it outside and, sure enough, the lines went to pot pretty quickly from exposure to the rain and sun even though we stored it inside for the winter.
