I paid half as much for this light than what I could get from the local pet store and this one is much brighter. It looks great and is well built. I'm sure my plants will do great with it. This on a 20g tank and it's a perfect fit. The blue light is very nice but the picture I took is a bit too over exposed compared to how it really looks. I bought the optional timer to automate the light cycles. Hopefully this will last a long time. I'm glad I made the purchase and will update the review in a month or so.

Jeff: Got tired of the poor performance my florescent bulbs were doing. Tank looked old and tired. Reviews of the Beamswork LED convinced my to give them a try. Had two florescent fixtures on my 44G corner tank. Figured I buy one at a time and see what the new lights do to the tank. I WON'T be getting a second. No need. The tank is brighter than its ever been. Fish don't seem to mind. Too soon to tell the effect on the (all) live plants in the tank. Even though the old fixtures were 18" long I decided to go with the 24" LED. More lights where it counted... over the center of the opening. It's only a 3" overhang on each side; easily hidden. Skipped on the timer... using a standard light timer that I used with the fluorescents. Works great. Let's hope the LEDs last as long as promised.

Jasper: I've had this light for several months now. Plants are growing better than ever. I have plants that require medium to low light. Initially there was a lot of algae growth. I figured out the light intensity was too strong. I solved this by covering about one-half the rows of LEDs with electrical tape. Now I still have healthy plants and very little algae growth. I also bought the Beamswork timer module at the same time and they work great together.

KellyKelly: I have a weird shaped tank that is 20+ years old. I have low light plants and because of the shape I felt like I needed two lights on top in order for the plants to flourish. One of my 20+ year old fluorescent light fixtures just died and upon looking for something new I found this light.
Received it today and put it on my tank, removing the old light and WOW! I can't believe how bright my entire tank looks. I think it's just as bright as with two lights, if not brighter. Hoping my plants and fish like it, because I sure do already.
Update: 3/22/17 - I've had this light since January. It is bright and I love it, BUT my tank has exploded with algae. The plants seem to be growing too, but the entire tank is green. I never had an algae problem before I switched to this light. May be too much light for my low light plants? I'm not sure but it's annoying! Means I have to clean more :(

jennifer justina halljennifer justina hall: This light is well worth the money. I am growing lots of Anubius, Amazon Swords, Bacopa, and Java Ferns in my 20 gallon aquarium. This light is perfect. It lights up the aquarium nicely, and gives the plants ample light to grow. Only $40! Totally worth it. I do have a bit of brown algae, but that's because of the water chemistry.
