BalanceFrom Walk-Thru Baby Safety Gate: Easy Installation and Durable Design

Spanawayman: I am disabled and my kids got me a Lab puppy, What were they thinking??? I Love him and intend to keep him but he's into everything and he's not potty trained so an eyes on vigil has to be maintained. The gates are great! The puppy is 13 weeks old and about 30 Lbs, Paws the size of a wolf, look closely at the tops and bottoms of each side and the twisted rod at the top. Right after I installed them he tryed to opn the gate, stuck his paw through and he slipped down to the narrow part, he yelped with pain as his paw was stuck. It probably taught him a lesson about not trying to open the gate. I don't blame the company as the really are great gates and pretty easy to install, i got 5 now to keep puppy out of every room.

Randall NagelRandall Nagel: The product is solid and worth the price but as you can see from the pictures the frame is bent so the top does not lock, it only locks on the bottom, and this isn't the first one I got, I returned the first one for the same issue, and they sent me another one with the same exact bend.

Chez 1: OK, let me just say I was a little worried by some of the negative reviews initially. However, so far this gate is a gem. We have a one year old that is crawling and walking. The gate is super easy to install and setup. We picked up 2 gates that were installed in open doorways on either end of the living room. We love the auto close feature and the fact that it will stay open once placed at a 90 degree open angle. We use the stay open feature at night and close them when baby is playing in living room during the day. The gates are installed inside wood door casing and then we tightened them up as instructed and it super strong by itself. If we need more support in the future - the gate comes with bases that use a screw to hold bases in place to door frame and then we could loosen gate and place the ends of each corner inside these bases. Again so far so good. I will update in a few months.

Nadia R.: Lo recibí en tiempo y forma. Las instrucciones están en inglés pero no es difícil de entender. Se lleva su tiempo colocar la puerta pero si se hace de la forma indicada queda muy bien. Donde la coloque tiene un ancho de 106cm y creí que no iba a ajustar, pero ajusto muy bien. Quedo bastante fija y abre y cierra sin problemas. Abrir tiene su truco, hay que jalar hacia atrás, levantar para que se desatore de abajo y empujar del lado a donde quiera abrir.
Yo la compre para mi perrita y ha funcionado muy bien. Es un perro pequeño pero con fuerza y la puerta sigue firme.

MAGTFTC/MCAGCC: Now that I have one, I would probably try a different brand. The door opening is a stiff and not smooth. Which is good, but also bad. It takes two hands to open the door and with force. The gate will fight you a little bit. You kinda feel like you're going to break the darn thing. I have this outside for my dogs, so the care of this product is fine for it's use (and I mean banging it up or slamming the door - if it broke, I wouldnt be butt hurt about it) but if I were to need this inside my house for the kids. I would defiantly try a different brand and something that I don't have to kinda struggle to open. You've got to pull the latch on top of the door back, and lift the physical door up to be removed off its saftey hinge to allow you to open the door, but its kinda janky and not a smooth one off push back and lift process. You get fight back from the gate and again, you need some force to complete this process. Which requires two hands. So if you have kids, maybe a stay at home, got things in your hands and needs access. Yeah , not happening.

Would I order again? Yyyeeaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... and I say that in a loong tone. I'd first order another brand, and...

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: As indicated, I ordered 2 gates one had the extensions on it and that's the one I installed first. This one was simpler because it did not have extensions and aligned fairly easily between the door facings. I didn't realize that I had one end up a little too high off the floor. I've finally fixed that by unscrewing things a bit and repositioning the right side.

The pictures of the gap/opening of the gate are from the extension gate assembly but it's the same either one.

Being a bit "old school" I had a bit of difficulty figuring out how the Threaded Spindle Rods would hold, because they just slipped in and out of the holes for them in the gate. I expected them to be affixed to the gate then screw onto (against) the surface of the walls/door facing. When you rotate the white wheel on "the adjustment bolts along the threading" in order to "shrink the space between the adjustment bolt and rubber foot", that creates the blocking force for the bolts against the Gate Frame. Ingenious new school.

I purchased the small "Wall Nanny" blocks from Amazon to go against the wall in order to protect the walls and door facings that were involved. This gate not having...
