LBT: The media could not be loaded.  This is a Remote Starter/Keyless entry system only. This is not an actual alarm system.
Had to buy additional parts for the install. I needed a bypass module for the passlock 2 anti theft system for my vehicle and a door lock module as well. Most remote start units have negative style door lock triggers and my vehicle has positive (Type A) locks.
You dont have to do any programming unless you want to change the default settings. The instructions are pretty clear. It runs for 12 minutes as a default setting and 1 press of the * symbol to remote start. The range is good as well.

JR: This worked great for my older YJ. No add one needed!

Amazon Customer: With a little help from internet resources was pretty easy. We used it to replace a faulty mid-2000s car starter. Basically just repinned wires from old install and cross referenced the wiring diagram from the old and new system, and used the new antenna. Started up first try and also used the door lock unlock.
This unit has a ton of features that we didn't use (installed in a 2005 toyota echo), like alarm siren output and rear defrost. It's also possible to activate this unit with a cellphone but it appears you need to create an installer account with directechs.com.

riley: Easy enough to put in. Remotes range sucks. You might have to take a few steps out of the house to remote start your car. Comical.

Steve: Everything works perfect if you know what you’re doing. THIS IS NOT Plug and play. It is a wire in unit that you have to splice into your factory wires. My truck is older so it didn’t have a plug and play one for it. This thing just works awesome had no problem putting it in and everything works on it

Amazon Customer: I'm sure it's a fine product...but it'll never be installed, in fact, I'll be selling it first chance I get, as it hasn't even been opened yet.
What no one tells you is that this is just a first step. You have to purchase a kit to go with it specific to your vehicle. I'm no slouch with electronics, but I not only couldn't figure out how to install this (it doesn't come with instructions), but I couldn't find any instructions online either.
More importantly, even if you get it installed (or someone else does it for you), then you have to take it to a dealership that makes your make and model of vehicle, to program it, as only the dealership has the codes to bypass your vehicle's security. On top of that, you get dinged for THREE different installation fees (mine would have totaled around $500, just for installation alone).
This got a LOT more expensive, very quickly. So, again, be leery...mine's going up for sale... (
I gave it middling stars for a rating, just because I have no idea if it's any good or not...

ChristianChristian: For the price I paid for this system, the value is amazing. I bought one for each of my cars, they took about 1.5 to install and run the relays, new wires, and get everything set up. If you have a chip in your key, you will need extra parts to make the remote start portion work. I didn't need this, which made it a breeze to install. As others have mentioned, it doesn't come with "Installation Instructions", it also didn't come with a wiring diagram. It does come with a list of what each wire does, but that's about it. I strongly recommend you get this professionally installed if you're not familiar or comfortable with automotive wiring. The relay diagram is for a negative pulse door lock system. Also, a bitwriter is convenient, but not required, you can program it with the valet button and your fob. One thing I found annoying is that it doesn't come with a remote LED light, if you're handy you can solder one on the board where the mounted LED is and run it to your dash. Overall fantastic product for the money. Range has been good too, works from about 300ft away in a building.

Steven Cooke: Overall a great unit I think so far, it appears to work flawlessly. It’s pretty easy to install. But if you don’t know anything about car wiring or repairs don’t attempt it. I see some reviews saying it ruined their car, no it didn’t. You did by installing it wrong. If you know what your doing and have access to proper vehicle wiring schematics it’s a simple install. Took me one hour to install this unit on a basic 2006 Kia Rio. I hooked up every feature too, defrost control, horn, lights, locks, remote start, and anti-grind.

Some reviews also complain about needing more parts. That the case with most of these kits. They can’t fit all the relays and things into these tiny boxes. Again it comes back to, if you know what your doing it’s easy. If you don’t, take it to a pro. Remote start isn’t for the typical DIYer unless it’s the simple plug and play versions.

I am having one little quirk. It seems after driving the car, I exit the vehicle and lock it but I get no horn confirmation like it’s in the silent mode. But if I wait 60 seconds I do get horn confirmation and will continue to get horn confirmation until I switch the ignition on then it...

EmmaKate: This thing has had issues basically from the start. My husband is a master tech at a dealership, so he and his other master tech friend installed it, just like they’ve done on dozens of others for customers vehicles, so I have no doubt it was installed correctly. Installation was done late November 2018.

With my factory remote, I could click “unlock” once for the driver door, and then twice to unlock the rest. Just a few weeks after install, I started noticing issues where intermittently, one click of “unlock” would not unlock the driver door, and I had to press it twice to unlock it. Over the last several months, the problem just kept happening more frequently.

The actual remote start also only works intermittently. You can stand next to the vehicle, press the start button, hear the vehicle initiating the start, but it never actually starts. This happens maybe 25% of the time, and the remote start works as intended about 75%. Now tonight, my husband noticed that when pressing the lock, the vehicle honks to indicate it received the command, but it does nothing to the locks. No matter how many times it is pressed, the vehicle will not lock. We grabbed our...

Ash N: Performs its job well and at a good price. Not as advanced as the more expensive 2-way units but has all the basic features you could want for 80 bucks including keyless entry, trunk pop, and virtual tach. I work with these daily so it was a breeze for me to install it but for those who have never done it before, installation by someone who knows what they're doing is HIGHLY recommended. Unless it's a weekend project on something very basic and easy to work with like an older Civic or Aveo definitely have a pro do it. The unit I received was definitely not new, the seal was broken and wires were taped up, clearly someone had tried to have a go at it previously but chose not to dive in.
