FJO: We had to replace the original bottom garage door seal on our home. In actuality, it took more work to het the old bottom seal off than putting this Auto Care seal on. In both cases it is much better if you have two people to both of these processes. You really need one person feeding the seal on while your helper holds the roll at the end to help getting the tabs in the slots. Now we are back in business and it only took about an hour and a half for the whole process.

Sally S.: We were looking for a replacement for our bottom garage door seal that had gaps. After buying one at a local home improvement store that did not fit, we checked Amazon. We had 1/4 inch T on the old one, so based on answered questions and reviews we ordered. It arrived the next day and was a simple install with a perfect fit. Many thanks to the seller for the simple, but valuable instructions! Here was our whole process:
1) Unpinch all four locations (each end of both tracks was pinched) with a flat head screwdriver.
2) Spray WD40 along both tracks with the old seal in as it was still somewhat stuck. We did have to use a small nail directly into the end of one side of the track to break the old seal loose.
3) Pull the old seal out with pliers. The WD40 made it come out pretty smoothly.
4) Wipe down the tracks in the bottom of the door to remove debris.
5) Wait until the next day (because we discovered the one from the home improvement store was not going to fit :-)).
6) Spray down the tracks with a squirt bottle filled with warm soapy water (just regular dishwashing soap).
7) Put the new seal in a small plastic bucket with more warm soapy water (this was in the...

jtflag: Nicely made product, a bit skinny at edges. As others have noted, the "T-edge" on either side is a bit small: 7/32" wide, instead of 1/4" wide as advertised. I measured the old door seal T-edge at 5/16". BUT maybe most important: The vertical part of the "T" at the edge is much thinner for the new material than with the old material, and there is no dimension given for that. I measured 1/8" at T-edge center with old material, but about 3/64" for the new material. I believe that the vertical junction dimension of the "T" is the more important issue.

For whatever dimension: The new skinnier material will fall out of the original door slot.

But, you CAN use it with a little patience. I took a pair of vice grips and carefully crimped down (narrowed) the two aluminum slots all along my 18' door width. I crimped about every 2 inches. You can do this carefully and avoid cracking the aluminum. I crimped it down about 1/16 narrower the entire way. When finished, I slid the new material in, using NO lubricant. You don't need it, and if you did use it, the material would be slick and fall out again. Result is that it works fine, after 3 days. My door faces due southwest, so it...

DudeGuy: I recently purchased a house, and the seal on the bottom of the garage door was probably the one installed when the place was built (about nine years ago). It was a two-car garage, and one garage bay would collect a large pool of water, about four or five feet in diameter, when it rained. I could trace it back to the garage door seal. Obviously, the previous owners had the same problem, as they had tried to apply large quantities of black caulk to the bottom of the seal to make the garage seal tighter in that area. Also, they had tried stuffing things inside the seal to keep it fluffed. After peeling the caulk off of the seal, I could see daylight coming through beneath the garage door when it was closed.

After replacing my garage door seal with this one, I immediately saw no light leaking in under the door when it was closed, and at the next rain storm I found only a 5 inch puddle where there would have otherwise been a 5 foot puddle. This is because the slab on that side of the garage tilts ever so slightly back toward the house, so rain collects in that location on the outside of the house. I plan to put down one of those ramped garage door thresholds to try to combat...
