Got it, fired about 10 staples then it quit working. Returned it (very easily) and got another - it didn’t work right out of the box. Sent it back too (also easy return). They don’t give you three chances, just refund your money, so I bought one from the local lumber yard - works great. These are great staplers, but I guess I just got a couple of bad ones…?

Sheri Thomas: This product is easy to use and does not require much strength. I use mine to attach pipe cleaners to my signs for my wreaths.

S. Barrett:
I had a PowerShot for over 15yrs, that I bought from Home Depot. Loved that thing. Never had a bad experience with the tool. No jams. Only seldom had a bad delivery of a staple, and usually because of something I did/did not do. It finally broke (a pin in the firing mechanism broke off inside, rendering the mechanism basically inert).
So I bought this replacement 5700M with some reservation, based on the swath of mixed reviews. My recommendation - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
On initial inspection, you could tell the device was much less substantial alloy than it's predecessor. Additionally, they changed the loading mechanism from a slide that remained anchored to the device, to an arm that slides completely off. Not significant in itself, but again just felt like it diminished the quality.
I loaded up my PowerShot branded T-50 staples (left over from the previous gun) and never once got one to fire. Unloaded and reloaded several times. Tried different strips and at different lengths. Checked for jams. Nothing. The firing head just never made contact with the front staple. Can't express how disappointed I am and how saddened at the...

I like the design of this stapler more than any other. I don't have a lot of strength and pushing the stapler hard enough so that I won't have to use a hammer isn't hard with this stapler since the part you push on, is the part where the staple comes out. Great idea, for sure.
I do feel like the one I got years ago, when they first came out, was better quality and did not jam as often. It's very hard to un-jam, too.
I guess overall I'm willing to take the good with the bad to try to avoid hand fatigue.

OldSoldierSix: Terrific, heavy-duty stapler. I've had and used a PowerShot 5700 for about five years, mostly for stapling up paper (light and heavy) plus paperboard and cardboard targets, stapling them into composition board, chipboard, plywood and other surfaces. Previous to finding the PowerShot, I had used, cursed and discarded several other makes of alleged "heavy duty" staplers. To put it in fine English, they SUCKED. The PowerShot rules. Have loaned mine out (short term, closely watched) to at least 20 fellow shooters whose staplers had suffered fatal jams and seizures or RUDs: (Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly). Several scampered off and purchased PowerShot 5700's. So to make it clear, this purchase was not a replacement for my original, which will probably outlive me. This one is a gift for my son, who will put it to the same use as mine - AND SO HE'LL STOP BORROWING MINE! Highly recommended. Note: I was concerned that since mine was made, the manuf may have cut corners on new production models; a process called "flimsifying" in modern manufacturing. Not the case, it seems. My son has already tested his thoroughly, and if you locked him in a padded room with a bowling...
