JM.: I bought a new fridge and went basic to eliminate headaches. No icemaker. I use silicone freezer molds to make 8oz ice blocks, and then pound the ice in the lewis bag. Works like a charm. You can crack 64 oz of ice in 30 seconds. Nice way to relieve pent up aggression too.

Darkflame808: The mallet is good. Quality and clean.
The bags are alright. I use this to hold ice that my nugget ice maker makes to allow me to freeze it and smash it back into nuggets as the melted water turns my nugget ice into nugget blocks when I throw them in the freezer. This bag absorbs the moisture so when I smash the ice. It gets stuck to the inside of the bag. I literally have to claw it out. So I can’t recommend this for nugget ice. But if you have big blocks of ice or ice rounds. This should do you just fine in giving you a safe place to crush it!

Tiger Crazy Lady: I had my ice crusher handle break on me and I wasn't happy with what was available so I decided to give this a try. It works awesome. Love that you get an extra bag with it. I put my ice in a plastic bag, zip it shut with all the air out of it and then put it in the bag and crush on each side. You have to feel to see how big your ice cubes are. It works great and I would give it as a gift to family and friends.😉

Jason BourneJason Bourne: I love to crush up crystal-clear store-bought ice for my drinks, and for me, this is the best way to do it. It’s simple and effective, which is probably why Lewis bags like this have been in use since the 1940s. This one’s made of sturdy canvas fabric and works great for me.
You get two sturdy bags measuring roughly 13” deep (not including the flap cover) by just under 9” wide. There’s a little loop on one corner of the bottom, apparently so you can hang it to dry. Both bags are identical.
The mallet is made of nice beech wood and finished fairly well. There is no coating on it like polyurethane or anything, but it’s sanded pretty well. The head stays on because the handle is tapered at the end, which is great. I like simple designs that just work.
This mallet should also work well for stone crabs, lobsters, etc., although I probably wouldn’t use the bag for that.
I searched high and low and couldn’t find a better price for two bags and a mallet of this quality. Definitely a good deal.
