JWN: This book was a bit too dark for me. As usual, lots of action and bad guys and issues with pack and vampire politics. Anita is learning more of what it means to be the leader for the wereleopards. She and Richard start a new path. She’s no longer sure she can trust Jean-Claude, which is a bummer for me as I prefer her to be with him than the naive Richard. She still loves the, both and still wants to be with them both. Its tough for me to see her still dealing with this love triangle issue, i books in. She’s learning more about her powers and how to control it. That part is very interesting and fun to see all that she’s capable of and what the increased powers of their 3 powers combined can do for each of them.

But after reading 8 books back to back, I need a break. I recommend taking a break a lot sooner than I did. Read something lighthearted, perhaps so there’s a balance.

J D Harding: Laurel does not disappoint. Its fast paced and action packed as are all the books in the series so far. The characters are becoming more vibrant and you cant help loving them all. Theres always a small part of the main character held back so you just cant wait to see what happens next. Love this series.

Alt_kt: I didn't enjoy Blue Moon as much as the others (excluding Burnt Offerings which i also gave four stars instead of five). This has to do with the fact that i felt there was too much going on at once, an unnecessary amount of sex stuff and that the suspenseful time sensitive mission of getting Richard out of prison before full moon was wasted.
So my first point; there was so much sex and sexual aspects to this book that didn't need to be there such as Anita gagging for it for most of the book. Yes, there was a reason that this was the case but i still felt it took away from the plot. Also some of the platonic relationships she has that i find very endearing become sexual and that kinda spoilt these relationships for me.
Second point; the blurb mentions of Richard being in jail only days before the full moon... but then he is released a day after Anita arrives in the town he is staying in... so the tension and suspense completely plummeted. It would have been really thrilling if the whole book was set around the fact that Anita only had a few days to get him free before everyone found out that he is a werewolf!
However, there were good points to this book; we got to meet...

georgina: Laurell k Hamilton does it again! just when you think she can't take Anita further she surprises us with another side to her, I like the way she has also given more depth to the pack and the wereleopards. I think Nathaniel and Jason are still my favourites although I am warming to Damien and Asher and everyone loves Richard and Jean Claude although in this book Jean Claude is very much in the background. Just when you think the bad guys couldn't be badder laurell gives you a whole new twisted bad guy. if you pick this book up you won't put it down.

Mrs. J. S. Keeble: I
loved this story, didnt know what everyone was saying about sexy stuff in the book but, as it went on Boy oh Boy it arived. I have to say I didnt have a problem with it, it fitted into the story fine. the story its self was very good, its the first time I
have got to know the characters so well, if made the story more real and you could feel all their feelings, like you had "munin" inside you..... Well done on writing a fantastic book, but now I am lost without something that good to read, hurry up postman
please deliver the next Anitta Blake to me very soon.

TSegurado: I seriously think this is my favourite book so far! I will try not to spoil for you but if you are like me a 'team richard' then you will definitely love this book! Anita once again discovers powers and fears that very strong and she needs to overcome them. She finds that after all bad she's done 'God' still loves and cares for her. The pack both wolves and leopards are more and more close to her and at one point i think that what she fears the most is loosing the human side on her since now she even craves for blood on some moments! But I'm delighted to see that JC only shows up on a couple of pages at the starting of the book!! lol

Jana L.Perskie: Anita Blake, Executioner, necromancer, lover and human servant to Jean-Claude - the charismatic Master Vampire of St. Louis, lupa of the Thronnus Roke Clan lukoi, and Nimir-ra of a pard of leopard lycanthropes, is changing...more so all the time. When Laurell Hamilton introduced her to us in "Guilty Pleasures," Book One of the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series, she was a 24 year-old, smart, attractive, feisty, super-independent dynamo, who raised the dead for a living. She was almost a normal 21st century career girl. Of course she staked rogue vampires as a sideline, but we all have our quirks. Anita's preternatural powers have been steadily increasing, and in "Blue Moon," book eight in the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series, the lines are really beginning to blur between her humanity and the supernatural. Always an uncompromising and tough lady, she has developed a hardness, a detachment, that frightens even herself.

Anita, Richard Zeeman, (an alpha werewolf and her old boyfriend), and Jean-Claude, (her present lover), had formed a Triumvirate of power - Master Vampire, Ulfric and necromancer. In other words, when the three connect, they exude tremendous force and are able...

Tina Chaney: I've read most of these reviews and noticed something significant. Most of the bad reviews are generated by the reader's distaste of Richard, annoyance at "romance", or a general preference for vampires and/or Jean-Claude. None of these reasons address whether or not it's a good book.
I've re-read this book at least 5 times. There are so many layers here, that I, for one, think that Hamilton did an exceptional job of bringing it all together. As with all the books, bad guys abound and the action is fast-paced and intense. Meanwhile, Anita is dealing with self-doubts about her morality and how far she may or may not have slipped in God's graces, both in regards to her violent actions and her choice of partners. If that wasn't enough for her to deal with, she also has to deal with unresolved love/lust for her former fiance--a man that she feels that she cruelly betrayed. Hamilton brings all the angst and conflict to a head, without sacrificing the action or suspense of the story. That, in and of itself, deserves kudos.
I want to clear up a major misconception that just reading the reviews could cause, as well. All those people that are so offended by the book's erotic content...
