T. W. Trussell: We've had our Whirlpool Duet for quite a few years now, and this is the second time I've needed to replace the drain pump. They seem to go for 5 to 8 years of daily use and then fail.

If you know the "trick" for opening the cover plate, you'll be able to handle this. (You'll already need to know how to remove the cover and how to turn the handle to clean gunk out of the "button trap" every few months, so I keep a short piece of 2x4 handy to prop up the front of the washer. It's an unfortunately obscure design, but it works as long as you can get to the fasteners.)

Unfortunately, the first try on this one, I got a lemon. Had I entered a review for it, I would have written "smokes too much," because it did. It WORKED, but the smell and heat told me it wouldn't have lasted even another day. Fortunately I was able to return it easily.

I'm glad the washer parts are so readily available I can order these and have them in hand in LESS than a day (same day, sometimes) via Amazon. I know one of these days some part of the washer will break and I'll decide it isn't worth repairing. (The bellows seal was ALMOST too difficult for me, for instance, but I got it installed...

Jasper: I have a Whirlpool front load washer which we have had for several years and in 2018 I had to replace the OEM drain pump with a Supco LP30913 pump I bought off Amazon. A few weeks ago the washer would get to the drain stage and stop, I could unplug it and wait a little while and plug it in and it would drain. I started noticing that it would work fine if we did one load and then waited but do two loads right behind each other and it would stop at the drain stage on the next load. Finally it stopped draining altogether so I ordered this because I couldn't find the Supco one when I checked my past orders and clicked on the picture of the Supco pump.

I am very happy with the design of this one. After I removed the Supco one I compaired it to this and found the Supco motor attached to the housing by tabs that twist and lock, this one is bolted to the housing. I removed the Supco motor from housing and found the impeller shaft was bent because it had been rubbing on one side only, which cause the seal and shaft bearing to fail (the motor was full of water when I removed it to install this one which could have caused it to short out and catch fire). Kevin J. Peterson: Our Whirlpool Duet Tumble Fresh 4.4 washer has been giving us the dreaded F21 errors constantly for about a year. The cycles would stop halfway through a load and we would have to start it again. Cleaned out the filter multiple times with no success to the problem. Wife said either "fix it or we're buying a new washer/dryer set "(2.5k). Well the "frugal" guy that I am I proceeded to take out the old drain pump and took it apart. I found 2 ball bearings, a corn kernel and a small rubber zipper grip down inside the impellor. I thought "maybe just get these objects out of here and we'll be good to go" however I was able to get my finger down on the impellor and could immediately tell it was loose and would move side to side. I knew the old pump was shot.

OEM pumps were $100+ so took a chance on this aftermarket one for about $30. Product arrived in 2 days. Installed it in about 15 minutes. It was a perfect fit (you do have to use a flathead screwdriver to force the rubber foot on the right side down into the washer pan bracket). Connected both hoses with new clamps and plugged it in. WORKS FLAWLESSLY. I didn't realize how loud the old pump was until the new one was installed....
