David: This worked well for connecting an HDMI cable into a mini displayport. I also tried plugging a VGA cable using the same adapter, and for starters, the VGA cable falls out, but then secondly, the VGA connection did not work. As cumbersome messages, and only one of the ports working, I wish I would’ve just purchased an HDMI to mini displayport adapter.

Mama Duck Edie: After my old mac DVI to hdmi adapter died, my monitor screen went black with no signal reading from the computer to my monitor. The older mac minis are notorious for having issues with their thunderbolt and hdmi ports connecting to VGA or DVI screens. This thingy will work with the thunderbolt 1 port on your 2014 mac mini. I am using a VGA cable with it. My monitor works! After trying many (5) different adapters and cables, this was very affordable and works like a dream! I am thrilled I can use my screen! May order a few more just in case.

R from N: I use this to connect a MS Surface pro tablet with Win10 (through its miniDisplay port) to a projector that has a VGA cable on it and it works great. THe video that gets sent through looks excellent. Build quality looks good, cable portion is long enough to not hang badly off the tablet, and it's not heavy enough to pull on the tablet either.

Cathy A. Miller: I got this because my employer provided me with an older Lenovo PC for work. That computer had a mini display/thunderbolt 2 port instead of an HDMI, so I could not use my usual HDMI-DVI cable; I bought this AmazonBasics Mini DisplayPort to HDMI/DVI/VGA because I was curious to see how well it worked and it proved excellent! I tried it with cables using each interface and it never skipped a beat. I'd recommend to anyone who wants/needs such a versatile tool.
