Nelson: I'm getting a significant amount of flicker that I think is ground loop noise when using this adapter. It's worse when my laptop is plugged into a different wall outlet than the display. When the laptop is on battery, little or no flicker, which is why I think ground loop is the cause of the issue. Perhaps future versions of the product could add a ground loop circuit or some other approach to noise prevention?
Aside from that rather large problem, the adapter has been reliable and performs as expected. Good value for the money. I'm not sure I would recommend it to everyone though. Perhaps look around for a cable with better ground loop and/or noise protection.
I would add one other point. VGA port standard doesn't support audio, even if displayport does. If you are buying this please be aware that any speakers on your monitor won't be used unless you add a separate audio cable if your monitor supports that. Don't buy this expecting audio.

alice: The screen of my macbook pro gets very crowded when I attend zoom meetings. I have a very old Dell monitor that was lying around so I decided to use it as a second screen. I just plugged in the adapter and it worked right away. The graphics on the second screen was not that sharp but it worked for my purpose. I could not really tell if this was because the monitor or the adapter. At the end of the day, I am happy with my purchase.
