Even with our first soft freeze of the year. I did add a filter in front of the pump outside the of the opening, held on with a bread tie. Cleaned as needed. This is a great bird bath fountain pump for the price. The one improvement I think it needs is a factory filter that you could insert in front of the pump.

Aileen Martin: Works great in the sun but on a dull day nothing. However the very nature of the thing is, it’s solar, and it looks good in the sun.

puzzled: I would like to see some filtration material added to protect the pump from weed and impurities in the pond water

spc: Good Product which provides a good fountain pressure, but does not last very long, basically approximately four months then the pump and the solar panel stopped working (in full sunshine).

Mt: Worked well up to just after the product support window ended at 2 years. Shame. World have given full starts if could go for 2 more years!

Nick: Simple to set up. sometimes will run intermittently - i.e. cycles off and on. I had anticipated the battery would keep it running steady, but apparently not. My birdbath is somewhat overshadowed by trees, so filter/pump requires at least daily cleaning. Does what I bought it for.

Sirisly: It does what it’s supposed to do for now. The solar panel and battery are effective but try to mount the panel somewhere it’ll get steady sun all day. For me the cord was long enough that I could put the birdbath in a semi tucked away location that birds like while locating the panel on top of a fence post. I can see that dirt will compromise function if I’m not vigilant about keeping gunk out of the bird bath on a daily basis. That’s kind of annoying. For that reason I’ll probably just get a water jiggler when this thing inevitably breaks. A bonus… you’re not limited to the nozzle assemblies in the pictures. I played with it and have more of a bubbling action going. My bird bath is on the small side, so the tall spray patterns were pumping the water outside the basin and it turned itself off pretty quickly.

Joe: I like that it's solar powered. I have it set up in a waterfall fountain. Even though it has a large solar panel it still requires almost full sun or at least some sunlight hitting half the solar panel. Even though I have it facing Southwest, I have to move the panel when the sun is moving to the west even though it still only 5:30pm Eastern time zone in May. The battery doesn't produce enough power and stops working very early in the afternoon. At least it saves money.

Amazon Customer: 11/12/22 UPDATED REVIEW- I have to say that the company Aistin-US is very responsive to my issues. Just yesterday I received an updated product to try out. They have stayed in contact this whole time. I still have not had the time to try the new pump basically because it is raining but I will this week.
OLD POST: I purchased this product only because it said it works with partial sun. My reason for this purchase is just that. I live where there are tall pines and I get partial sun all day long with a few hours here and there with direct sun. Well, the unit came I was happy it ran all day and stopped at 8:05 pm. Not bad I thought. Then the next day it started running for 2=3 minutes then stopped, then started again. It did this same thing all day long. So I unplug the cord to charge up the battery the next day. Then on day 4 plugged it back in and it went back to doing the start/stop all day. So I figured I got a bad one as I bought 2 and gave one as a gift. My friends were going crazy all day. The new one arrive quickly got it set up and it did the same thing the 1st one did. So I called my friend and asked her if hers was in direct sun all day and if so to place it in a...

peter godwin: I've had fun with this unit ,made a water feature and stuck it in the middle. The unit has suction pads on the bottom which was ideal to attach to the upturned seed tray lid. I did find they lost suction and ended up weighting down with stones. Has loads of interchangeable tips ,providing a host of different spray patterns. I used one of the single jets to prevent too much water loss over the sides. The solar panel is a nice large one with plenty of flex. The pump has been working every day, stops briefly and restarts on cloudy days. There is a louvered water inlet which can get blocked a bit,but easily cleaned and then you are back on full power. If the container runs short of water the pump automatically stops to prevent damage to the motor. Summing-up it's a good value unit with a decent size solar panel to drive it. Solar panel also has battery storage. Recommended for the price.
