KrezManKrezMan: The pump itself and the solar panel are very nicely constructed it seems. However the battery in the unit doesn’t seem to work, and from some of the reviews that doesn’t seem to be a surprise. As you can see from the picture the sun is very much still out and the fountain just stopped. The days our cloudless and VERY bright, no shade, so if there was a battery, charging wouldn’t be an issue.

Shame that this product seems defective because I really wanted to like it. Guess I’ll look elsewhere and I suggest you do the same.

UPDATE: After working with it a bit and found that for some reason the pump "shut off" was getting triggered and shutting off. After that it has been working great. Works several hours after sundown (2-3 hours). Updating to 5-star.

The bad: The fountain only lasts seconds at a time. And then it DIED (use Croods voice here)
I bought this fountain hoping that it would provide some circulation for a small fish pond where I have no power. The solar panel does not supply enough power to keep the fountain running all day. In fact, even in FULL sun, in the South, in the summer (even Anakin Skywalker is scared to live here), the pump only runs for about 30 seconds to a few minutes at most. This was actually fine for me. I didn't mind. It was providing some aeration to my small pond consistently throughout the day. It would come on for about a minute or less, then recharge for 5 to 10 minutes before it came on again. This was enough aeration to make it worth the price for me. Unfortunately, after only 3 months of use, the pump died completely. Will not buy another and would not recommend.

David: This is my third purchase. This solar pump with battery is awesome new out of the box. It starts pumping at dawn (indirect sunlight) and keeps pumping several hours after the solar panel is shaded. However, as the solar cells ages, they become less efficient and therefore need brighter sunlight to get the pump going. Similarly, as the battery ages, it stores less energy and therefore the pump doesn't run as long after sunset. I notice a drop in performance after a few months. My second solar pump with battery is one year old. The solar panel needs direct sun for about one hour before the pump starts running. When the sunlight disappears, the battery will keep the pump running for maybe 15 minutes. My first solar pump with battery is more than 2 years old...it stop working. But I think 2 years is expected because I remember reading "10,000 hours operating life."

Jignesh: I am an avid backyard fountain user having used more than 5 different solar fountains and I must say this one blew my mind over. The solar panel is high quality glass panel with white/blue color. The top glass layers ensures that the service life is excellent unlike epoxy panels that degrade over time. This panel due to glass use will last as long as it does not shatter. The aluminum frame ensures that the glass is secured well. The battery backup is a nice one though I would have wanted it to last more than what it is now about few hours after sunset. Coming back to the pump, The pump is on a smaller side but packs a punch. The various styles of nozzles just add to the charm of this fountain. The length of cable is a plus one as it allows one to high the panel conspicuously behind other garden matters. All in all, a very high quality fountain.

VestigioVestigio: The pictures are of a temporary set up right now. I just wanted to be sure this worked.
These pictures were taken at 6:00pm on a rainy day. The solar panel (third picture) was in seven hours of full sun the first two days. At about 4:00pm it changes at that location to light shade. Despite the shade, the fountain kept working for another three hours. I don't know whether that was because there was still enough indirect light for the solar panel to work or that the full sun hours had been enough to charge the battery. This third day had been overcast and rainy the entire day. It was overcast enough that there was not even a shadow that showed around 4:00pm. Despite the weather, the fountain worked the entire day and into the evening!
The "birdbath" is a very large plant saucer. When filled it holds about 2 inches of water which covers the pump easily. The pump is only an inch high. The first day I noticed that some of the stuff that flies through the air and lands in birdbaths had been sucked to the pump inlet which is covered with a screen but still would allow detritus to be sucked in. So I got a cheap clear plant saucer , sliced two small pieces down...

YPL: The media could not be loaded.  It's good to have as it constantly work on sunny day, saves engry as I do not have to turn on my pond power itself. The water keeps flow in the pond with this spray fountain.very easy to set up,has different heads to choose from

Law: A lot of past reviews say that this doesn't work, there are a some possibilities why it doesn't work...
1) give it some time to be in the sun
2) the conductive sensor is not submerged enough for pump to activate
3) they plugged the connectors the wrong way
4) it may not have enough sunlight

In my case, #3 was my issue and found that there are faint arrows that indicate the proper connectivity of the plugs. There's also a small nub to ensure that you plug it in correctly, but with the cheap plastic used to make this, it was easily bypassed when I shoved the plugs together. So, once I corrected the polarity, the pump worked as it should. That's the only reason I'm giving it 3 stars since it actually does work.

My gripe is that as soon as the sun goes behind the clouds, the pump will function for only a couple more minutes before it just stops. What's the point of a "1500 mHa" battery if it doesn't hold a charge to allow for the pump to function more than a couple of minutes???
