MAURO: I have read my fair share of Status Christie and this is the best one. The story is fantastic and a true masterpiece. The reveal at the end you never see coming and it's been there the whole time.

stewartbenner: I will admit that Agatha Christie is one of my favorite writers. Among many other things, she does 1st person narrators well. The Moving Finger's Jerry Burton is dramatically different from Captain Hastings, and even with some of his similarities to Hastings, Dr. Sheppard from this novel clearly has a different perspective as a doctor than Hastings does.
This book is one of many that I would consider among Christie's best work. Interesting characters, plot twists, and a slightly different perspective of Poirot through Sheppard's eyes make a fascinating and entertaining story. A remarkable whodunit! I could not more highly recommend it.

MicheleM: I read this book for the first time years ago and it was no surprise to me that it is considered one of her best(if not the best) mysteries. I had remembered who the murderer was before I read the book for the second time but it was still an entertaining, engaging read. The characters are, as usual in an Agatha Christie book, full of idiosyncrasies and Hercule Poirot is his brilliant but somewhat conceited self. It’s a mystery with a lot of layers. I’d recommend it for any fans of Agatha Christie and the “cozy” whodunit type of mystery!

SREEKUMAR: The book was delivered in mint condition (ordered it back when Amazon really did care about book deliveries, now it's mediocre at best). Not gonna say anything about the story, if you haven't read it yet, grab a coffee, start reading and when you get to the end, you'll have to pick your jaw off the floor.

Silver Screen Videos: Agatha Christie was a popular mystery writer in the 1920s, with stories featuring her eccentric Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, appearing regularly in popular magazines of the era. But it was her third Poirot novel, 1926’s “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd,” that cemented her reputation as the greatest mystery author ever. The book often makes all-time best-of mystery shortlists, and with good reason. Anyone who has read it remembers the brilliant ending. But it’s also the rare whodunit that holds up just as well on later readings. I knew the mystery’s solution when I reread the book recently, but I thoroughly enjoyed examining Christie’s precise use of language to fool readers… but not Hercule Poirot.
Although many people know the ending, I’ll try to avoid spoilers with a general plot synopsis. “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd” is set in the small village of King’s Abbot in rural England. It’s the sort of place that gives pompous names like Fernley Park to its large homes and takes pride in having two general stores. The most recent resident of King’s Abbot is Hercule Poirot, who has gone into retirement there. He is content to keep a low profile and...
