The build quality looks good, but it's so difficult to tilt it nor back over. Totally DISAGREE of the description "Easy to use, Press and push button to tilt". The button usually stuck there.

LemonMoth: This really is a terrific umbrella in almost every way. I penalized the product one star because of a glitch that I feel it's important to be aware of. If you're under 5'6" you're going to find it a real struggle to angle this thing. The button you depress to release the top of the umbrella for angling sits way up on the pole, is hard to reach, and hard to depress unless you have very strong thumbs. Then, when you are able to depress it (standing up way high on tip toes while simaltaneously leaning over the patio table), you can't reach the umbrella's spines to pull it down into an angled position. At first I had to depend on taller friends to work the mechanism for me. Then I figured out a system wherein I depress the button and use a long stick to push one side down (or back up to a straight position.) It's still always a challenge to get the job done. The umbrella is also extremely top heavy. It got away from me one day when I was removing it, and the bottom of the pole, which wasn't yet clear of the table hole, was dragged up by the weight of the umbrella top and shattered the glass table top into a million pieces. Still, I have to say this a great umbrella in every other way....

Christina: I actually bought this umbrella so I could have the frame to use for a rather heavy cotton and crochet umbrella canopy I bought. The original frame is too hard to open and I couldn’t find a frame with a crank handle that had as high a rating as this umbrella. I was a little nervous about the quality because I did the same thing last summer and spent the same money for another brand and the frame was light and very weak and the crank mechanism worked poorly from the get go. I’m very pleased with this umbrella and the frame. I haven’t yet switched out the canopy but the frame is very heavy duty feeling and the crank mechanism is very smooth. I bought the blue/turquoise umbrella and the color is beautiful. I’ll use the other umbrella frame that I’ll use this lighter weight canopy on. I’d buy this umbrella again in a heartbeat.

I never switched out the umbrella as I intended but I still have this umbrella up in our patio table. It’s still just as bright and vibrant never faded and it still works wonderfully. We have very heavy gusty winds and we have it in a heavy weight 80lb base. It has held up great. I definitely plan on getting another this...

Mary T.: This has been in use for three years straight. It's sturdy and of high quality, far better than the price would suggest. It works great. The reason for my review at this point is that today for the first time I took the umbrella fabric off because it was mildewed and dirty from three years outside in all seasons. I washed it in the washing machine on warm water with detergent and about 1/2 c of vinegar. Still damp from the washer, it went back on the spokes easily, and looks good as new! I'm so impressed I had to look up this order to relay my gratitude for such a great product. Best Amazon purchase ever!

Summary
We have a shallow sunledge in our salt water pool with an umbrella stand built in into the floor. The sunledge is covered with 6-8 inches of water, and we've left this umbrella in the pool for the past 4 months. So far, the aluminum pole has shown no signs of corrosion or wear. The umbrella is probably opened about an hour or two a day during the work week and pretty much left open the entire weekend. Despite being exposed to the NC sun and the elements, the fabric has shown no noticeable fading, and the tilt and open/close mechanism still works great. The fabric is still semi water repellent as well, which is a nice surprise.

The ribs on the umbrella are built well and have held up to windy days as well. The little vent on the top appears to be working well. That being said, we don't tilt it on windy days since that's just asking for trouble.

Overall pretty happy with this, and has lasted longer than expected. Will probably buy another one from this company if our current one breaks.

Miss Kate: After a decent amount of research I decided I didn't want to take out a second mortgage on an outdoor umbrella, nor be married to one. I read the reviews and decided that I will choose this umbrella, respect it, and hopefully get two years from it. That means I have a strong solid base, crank it down every night and if there's a huge storm coming I lay it down.

So far so good! I had it ready for Memorial Day and have raised and lowered it almost every day since. The color is bright Aqua (which looks great with the same color self watering pots) and hasn't faded a bit. I did spend my money on an $80 66-lb stand which seems to be holding the free standing umbrella well. I will say, I bought that at pottery barn and who knew that they were the only store (in my price range) who actually had them available for same day pick up. I also caught a sale to reduce the price. If I needed to complain, it does not have a flat plate/side on the bottom of the pole, which makes it slightly more prone to spinning, when it's tilted (but that could be the top half spinning). But I think that is going to be a challenge with all umbrellas.

Basically, buy this and you won't be sorry....
