A Reader in CA: Slick little flame extenders. They take a spark from a ferro rod well so long as you pull the fibers apart and make a little nest before attempting to light it. It's the sort of thing that could make the difference between having a fire and not when conditions are not ideal. I keep a few in my backpack and in my emergency 10-essentials dayhike kit.

Jeff Xu: Perfect for any camping or emergency kit, I haven’t experienced any duds yet. I keep them in a zip lock for extra moisture protection. They stay lit for about 5 minutes.
I went through a pack in about a year, well worth the costs.

Shopper: Use them a lot and they work great

Shan T.: Have not tried these yet. Will use them when we go camping this summer. I was surprised on how small they are. The add makes them look larger.

Amazon Customer: Each piece burns shy of a minute. If you're lighting it with a lighter, no problem, but... if you have a lighter, you probably don't need this. If you're trying to catch sparks on it, even after spreading a piece as much as possible, it's still a difficult task. If you can carry it in a sealed bag with some oil, it may work better. The main selling point is that you can stuff a few of these into just about anything, so having something that's difficult to use but present is better than not having something that works great but didn't make the trip.

Brian: These little tinder fire starters are like the big name company but for cheaper. They light easy with your fire steel or match and stay out for a good amount of time.

Feather: This tinder is my "go to" tinder. It is a small, waxed-cotton type that is dependable. This tinder lasts about 2 minutes, at most, once it is lit. While I use another, similar, longer-lasting, brand for extended outings this is my main pack-in tinder for bush craft and camping.
