Julie O: Needed something to hang cloth diapers up. Didn’t want something that was always out. But needed something longer than 10 foot. Only issue is how you lock the string, when you put weight on it, it starts to sag. So luckily I’m only using for diapers but if I used pants or sheets they’d most likely touch the ground.

Different Name: We installed this on our back porch. It is out of the way and very sturdy; not at all an eyesore. It will hold several blankets/sheets. The lock at the bottom works very well. This has been a game changer. I live in a desert so it's sunny and dry. Because of that, I can have one load dry before the next load is done in the washer and it saves on energy and the heat in the house, which, in turn saves more energy from cooling.

LindaHutchLindaHutch: There are no user instructions that come with this handy retractable clothesline, which probably explains many of the negative reviews. I had to figure out for myself that the secret of having a taut, stabilized line is the cleat on the bottom of the case.
Once you have pulled out the line and hooked the loop end on a hook, you need to go back and pull out some extra line, and while holding taut the clothes-hanging side of the line (on the left in the photo), loop the cord around the "sticky-outie thing" on the bottom (the cleat.) Then allow the spring retractor to take up the slack (on the right in the photo.) If a user neglects that VERY important step, I can see where their clothesline would collapse under the weight of the lightest of clothes.
Even with the line properly secured, I don't think a sopping wet heavy wool blanket would be supported by the line. But for a laundry load of clothes, it works just fine.

Mike: It was cheap and it gets the job done. The line isn't all that sturdy and it feels cheaply made, but for the price I am happy and it was super easy to install.

C.L.: We installed this and the installation was easy but we didn't even get close to the weight limit and noticed how much it sagged & it is not connected well to the bracket on the wall (we installed it in a stud). Its loose on the metal bracket that holds it on the wall. It is difficult to get it as tight as you need as well.
