amfdtp: We've been camping together for 40 years, and spent nine years as boy scout volunteers, so we thought we knew it all when it came to cooking outside. Well I got news for you, this book has some pretty cool suggestions in it... Especially if you've got kids or grandkids along. A lot of the recipes and methods, we were already familiar with. But more than half the book contained recipes or techniques that were totally brand new to us.

Nicole Hopkins: I am a veteran Girl Scout leader who CONSTANTLY struggles with the camping meal planning with my girls. The big issue is that the girls have to decide what they want as a group, but struggle if they don't have good examples of different kinds of meals. This book is a PERFECT remedy for our troop! I love the layout by cooking method, and the recipes are easy/adaptable and actually resonate with the pre-teen palate. My Brownies would have been able to follow many of the recipes, and they are actually appealing to the leaders who get to partake of the meals. I HIGHLY recommend for any leader in a similar situation, or just generally, anyone trying to get kids to make a decision about meals!

I purchased this just to "think outside the box"... for some new ideas and to try to come up with stuff that's not always the same thing my husband and I always eat while camping. It has excellent and easy recipes... 200+ of them. The book layout makes for easy reading along with bright and colorful images. It has safety recommendations, glossary terms and extra tips. The "joys of cooking" with stick skewers, foil packets, pie iron skillets, dutch oven, on a grate/grill, etc. It has all kinds of tasty selections and scrumptious desserts. I really like this book and think it's a great addition to our trailer accessories... a must have... to have on hand! I'm excited to try some of these dishes with my husband while camping... GET THE BOOK! I recommend it... You'll love it!

N_Thorpe63: If you're the kind of cook who needs a recipe for a ham and cheese sandwich*, this is the book for you. If you have a bit of cooking experience and some common sense, it's not. Except that you could light a fire with it.
