One-Shot Scot: I recently moved my cable modem to a more effective location and I then needed a longer phone cord. The Softalk Phone Line Cord 15-Feet Silver Landline Telephone Accessory (46615) works well enough to connect my cable modem phone line to my home phones. In order to connect my desk phone, portable wireless phones and fax machine, a line coupler must be attached to this extension cord before it can be connected to a 3 way phone splitter. My telephone line tester showed that the signals coming out of the coupler and phone line splitter had REVERSED POLARITY.
Fortunately, I have encountered this reversed polarity issue before and I saved two line couplers that also have reversed polarity. After attaching the extension cable to one of these reversed-polarity couplers, the tester shows CORRECT WIRING for the coupler and the phone line splitter. All of my phones are now working perfectly, but this might not have been the case if I didn't have a line coupler with reversed polarity.

Honest Canuck: The cable will work as-is, but when chopping it up for DIY projects note that the colour coding of the conductors is more or less random rather than in industry standard order.
