Zinus Santiago Wood Platform Bed Frame with Wooden Slat Support

Stace: Second time we have purchased a Zinus bed and both times very satisfied. Easy to assemble, very sturdy plus some simple yet effective added features such as Velcro to lock the platform in place and non-slip strips for keeping the mattress from moving. Value is good too.

It arrived soooo well packaged. It was heavy but I’m glad I didn’t have to drag it up any stairs. I put this together myself and it took me start to finish less then an hour. The most time consuming thing was figuring out the directions. They are ridiculous if you aren’t technically inclined. In the end I just made sure I used the assigned hardware to the assigned hole and connected things as I went. The included diagram made zero sense to me.

The jury is still out on sturdiness. I think I missed something because it moves and makes noise when you roll over, but not like it’s broken. Also I have a few extra pieces of hardware… soo eh.

All things considered it had very clearly labeled pieces, minimal damages on the finish (2 tiny spots) and it seems like hardy pieces of wood. I really like that the bottom frame was velcro. A few pieces weren’t completely even but what is these days.

Amazon Customer: I was a little hesitant to purchase a bed from Amazon by a brand that I’d never heard of, but I needed something quick so I ordered this one. It arrived earlier than expected which was great!

The quality turned out to be great! The headboard is very heavy and sturdy. The rest of the bed seems to be well made also, we will see how it holds up. The legs do seem quite small considering the amount of weight a bed needs to support, but we have no issues after using it for a few days. I love that the slats attach to the base with a Velcro strip. This eliminates shifting and the accompanying noise that happens when the slats aren’t firmly attached.

You will likely need a second set of hands to build the bed. I was able to do everything myself other than attach the the headboard to the base, I did need someone to hold the headboard steady while I attached it. I love that this bed came with a ratchet, it made assembly a breeze. I built the bed in about an hour. It also comes with a few additional screw in case you lose any parts.

Michael Jeffrey Cave: I was not only pleased with the product but also all the small things Zinus did for the customer you don’t think of. They send an actual ratchet to assemble the furniture and not a dinky Allen wrench. Additionally their packing foam is covered with plastic so that during box opening foam bits don’t get everywhere in your house. They have sticks with numbers correlating to each step of assembly making it extremely easy to follow (really don’t even need instructions that how easy).

Now for the product itself, it’s an excellent build. Said Stickers for assembly are placed in locations that’ll get covered so no need to remove. It looks great and has great support. The flats are spaced evenly through Velcro strip that unfolds the flats. They are placed by the first one being doweled guaranteeing perfect positioning. They even have a silencing foam for the middle so no noise transfers from the flats to the board they rest on.

This product was amazing to work with and extremely impressed with the companies ability to think of additional conveniences for the customer outside of just a nice product.

MeghanMeghan: First, the product came double boxed, and probably 50% of the interior volume consisted of styrofoam sheets of packing. Needless to say, the bed arrived in perfect condition. The styrofoam was all encased in plastic bags, so there was no mess as it was removed from the packaging. I highly recommend you open the first box lengthwise, then do the same with the second box. That way you can spread open the cardboard and it's easy-peasy to remove all the packing as you remove the bed pieces.

Second, the bed is incredibly easy to put together. There aren't actually that many pieces, and the screw holes and such are perfectly accurate and everything fits just as it should. Everything you need is included in the box. Apart from a utility knife to open the box, and then to open the mattress slats, you need no other tools. They include an Allen key and - get this - a mini Allen ratchet that works awesomely well. All the hardware is labelled, and they even include some spares. The instructions are large and clear, if not quite intuitive. It helps that there's not many pieces and it's obvious what goes where. As you tighten some screws it may seem like a few don't...

michelle nordstrommichelle nordstrom: From the very start this product was amazing. The bed is packaged with so much attention to it, there is no way it can be damaged inside the box. All the styrofoam was in plastic bags so it didn’t get anywhere and they even included three little cards in the box for you. The instructions were so easy to follow, pictures were very clear. I finished setting mine up in 35 minutes. The hardest part about building it was getting the pieces out of the box. It was that secure!! I even have a mattress from Zinus and it is so comfy! The quality of the wood is also fantastic. It is nice and heavy and REAL wood! All the bolts and screws use the same tool to screw them in that they give you, which is also high quality! I will definitely be recommending this brand to everyone! If you are thinking about buy this product from Zinus, or the many other products they sell, definitely do it, you won’t regret it!!

RC: Everything about the bed frame is great, except that we often accidently kick the middle two legs with our foot. It would be perfect if some soft coverings could be added to the two middle legs of the bed.

Torchwood: This review is specifically for packaging and assembly - Queen size Zinus Santiago - we have not used the bed yet. Even though i put together many shelves, desks, and cabinets, I was reluctant to buy a bed that requires assembly. But a friend recently purchased and was pleased with Zinus bed. Bed arrived on time. I was impressed how sturdy the shipping box was. Inside, there was another just as sturdy inner box. There is no chance that contents would get damaged in transit. The contents were arranged inside with the perfect precision - no movement or banging. I was totally amazed to see that *each* styrofoam spacer was placed inside of the plastic sleeve! - NO messy styrofoam flakes after unpacking. The assembly was very easy. It took me a little over an hour at a *leisure pace* in a cramped space. The holes are aligned with laser precision. The hardware is high quality - the nuts and bolts are well-threaded and fit perfectly. It takes virtually no effort to assemble the parts. And Instructions deserve whole a lot of praise! Clear, concise, large, easy to follow schematics. Other manufactures should learn form Zinus how to ship their stuff. Thank you...

Eddie: I think when it comes to mattresses it is important to take into account the body type of an individual. I am a slender male 160 lbs and do not have any one else sleeping with me. I purchased the Queen-sized Zinus Memory Foam with Cottage Style frame and love it!

The bed was easy to assemble and I had no trouble with the instructions. Previously, I had a 2nd hand Queen sized inner box spring mattress and it had some grooves dug into it by the time I purchased my Zinus. The new Zinus mattress is easily worth the purchase. On my old mattress I used to wake up stiff, sometimes my knees/shoulders/neck would hurt when I'd wake up. I could not always get comfortable and would wake up multiple times during the night. On my new Zinus mattress I have not waken up with any joint pain. The bed is soft and the frame is sturdy. There is no squeaking and the overall build quality is top notch.

Another plus that may not be on your checklist is the ease of assembly. Every part is labeled. The slates are pre-assembled and the instructions are very detailed. From start to finish the bed took me about 20 minutes to setup.

I would recommend this mattress...
