NONYANONYA: The media could not be loaded. The beep scared outdoor strays we try to TNR but no problem if you have a few minutes and a soldering iron or exacto knife.
Just open it up and locate the large 0 ohm resistor just opposite the other side of the circuit board from the speaker, it has 000 on it.
Remove the resistor or cut the tiny trace (not the big fat one) coming out of it towards the little hole (called a via) that connects to the positive power pin of the speaker.
Now the rest of the reader will work but without the annoying beep sounds that scare skittish kitties!

Amazon Customer: Scans some chips immediately! Others has some trouble. I use it to scan each microchip before I chip my pups. If the chip doesn't scan immediately, I don't use that chip. Love this little scanner. You can connect to your computer and download every microchip scan with time and date stamps!

Jenifer Edwards: I have used quite a few of the lower priced microchip scanners since I run a pet rescue and this is the best one I have purchased by far. It has proven very reliable, easy and quick to use and I like the slightly larger size, makes it easy to hold on to and to find quickly. Like all lower end scanners, it won't scan AVID chips and people need to remember that when scanning lost dogs but it has scanned all other kinds with no trouble. I have been very happy with this one!

Penelope Molenburg: Very easy to use. I have chipped all my dogs and used this reader to verify that the chip was done correctly and the code came up. It worked everytime. This is actually my second reader only due to misplacing the first one in a move. Super happy.
