TheBigTime: If you’re considering this pedal because it’s cheap and bears the vaunted name of Yamaha, allow me to be the voice of reason on your shoulder.
To cut to the chase, simply move on and rather spend a wee bit more and get any number of decent options available via this very site such as the Tama Speed/Iron Cobra, DW-2000, Pearl Demonator, etc. They might cost you another $40 or so bucks, but will keep you from spending even more on an upgrade wry soon after realizing this was a terrible purchase.
Whether you’re literally just starting out, are an intermediate hobbyist, a pro, or buying this for anyone else you care for, know that this pedal will just be the bane of your drumming existence. It has literally no redeeming qualities I can surmise. It’s a wobbly mess. And you certainly don’t want to spend your precious drum learning/practicing time getting “used to” a crappy pedal, all because you wanted to cheap out on it by a few bucks.
And btw, don’t ever judge ANY pedal by its stock beater. While some manufacturers include quality beaters with their pedals, not all do, and beaters (as are pedals) are a personal preference and virtually any beater out...

Dadsmail: Pros
-Sturdy construction
-Straightforward, no frills design. If apple made drum hardware, this would be the IPedal. The Jojo M. Perfect balance pedal would be the iPedal max 💪🏻
-Smooth footboard. It’s shorter than footboards of other pedals in the range
-Solid hinge. No play at all!
-Light and very smooth feel
-Pedal strap and bag included
-Amazon.co.jp, great service. 4-day international shipping
Cons
-Design hasn’t changed since 2009. Spring holder still doesn’t swivel
-Plastic bolts used on the spring assembly

Foo schnitzel: I already had one of these but wanted another to match my double bass so I knew what I was getting. These are the best pedals I’ve used at this price point. You can get a little better feel from pedals twice the price but for me it’s not enough of a difference.

Richie Garcia: I've owned this pedal for a year now, and I'm still satisfied with it. I use it in a jazz context. I love this pedal, because it's just as smooth as the Yamaha FP-8500B, but it's lighter and more portable. It fits easily into a small backpack with my stick bag and Real Book. I'm already lugging around my cymbal bag, and sometimes my snare, so having a pedal that doesn't need it's own case is huge for me.
I know DW is the industry standard, but it always takes me a while to set up those pedals properly. The Yamahas are great right out of the box. The only thing I adjusted was the tension. Honestly, most pedals at this price are well-designed. I chose Yamaha because I've had the best experiences with their build quality in general.
I travel with this pedal three times a week and I've had no issues in a year (and no maintenance whatsoever). Each time I clip it to the bass drum, it feels and plays the same. A great value as far as I'm concerned.

John: It is worth the extra money to have a compatible pedal for your drums.

Don M.: I purchased this while looking for a kick pedal for my Yamaha DD500 Midi Drum and Yamaha KP65 Kick Tower.
This pedal is highly adjustable in both the pedal position and the throw of the beater.
The action is smooth but maybe just a little noisy, although with some 3 in 1 and find adjustments I believe this is easily resolved.
The adjustments use a 1/4" square drum key and you'll probably want to pick one up to make adjustments easier, although a very small crescent wrench may just do the trick.
If you are using it for the same purpose or for any other electronic or acoustic set, I don't think you can go wrong with this pedal.
Great value!

M. Garrett: I just received this, so this might be a bit premature, but here are my first impressions.
First of all, this pedal is WAY overpriced. It really belongs in the $50-$70 price range. The one I received is either defective, was abused during shipping, or who knows. But the whole pedal footboard assembly is tweaked to one side. It's as if the little wire arms are bent down near the heel plate, not sure yet. So, the footboard is angled up toward the right of the pedal, and is offline with the cam/beater holder (and NO, it's not that the cam and beater holder need to be moved over). I'll see if I can tweak it into position, but I'm not sure. That said, the pedal delivers a smooth powerful stroke. I think this pedal with the solid baseplate underneath and belt drive would be a much better way to go than this model.

German Alarcon: Excelente pedal!
