I've had three bikes on this rack, and it was rock solid. The mounting points are adjustable, so no one has to remove their bags or other gear before we load up. The Zipstrips hold the bikes so solidly that we only use bungee cords when traveling long distances to trail heads. Yakima was kind enough to include a few extra Zipstrips, just in case. Nice touch.
I read some reviews that questioned the locking system into the hitch receiver: it works great. It uses a wedge to lock the rack into the receiver. A reasonable person with a working knowledge of how the physical world operates should have no problem securing this rack to their vehicle. If the wedge gets stuck in place when you try to remove the rack from your receiver, I suggest bumping the red locking knob with the pad of your palm after you've turned the knob counter-clockwise a few times -- that shoves the wedge back, so the rack can slide out.

Relatively easy assembly. Keep in mind rack is pretty heavy and u need to work a little to put on hitch on your own. Folds out great for trunk access. Very durable. Everything locks in nicely. The plastic harnesses to lock in the bikes are excellent and u can rack your bike very quickly. Well under 1min.

After doing extensive research, I selected the FullSwing Premium Hitch-Mast Bike Rack because it was new and improved - a quick replacement to last year's model which was called the Swing Daddy (looks a lot like this one, but in silver -offered for $100 less). Last year's model received low ratings because they removed the integrated bike lock (included on the 2008 Swing Daddy) and charge $49 as an add-on. This was a big mistake (see reviews if you need proof).
I was debating over the 2008 Swing Daddy ($200 savings) and the 2014 which just came out and the main reason for my hesitation in buying the new one was price... So in order to make my decision I needed to proved to myself that Yakima's 2014 model is worth the extra $100-200 over prior models? The way the pivoting arm secures and releases is simple and easy to use. The support arms that hold the bikes are solid and move into place easily with the spring loaded latch. I love the sliding attachment points on the arms. Easy to move and lock/unlock in position.
