Windproof Travel Umbrella: Repel's Compact Design Keeps You Protected From Wind and Rain

Amazon Customer: I used this for travel, and wanted something that wouldn't blow inside out in a stiff wind. However, although this is sturdy and reasonably compact, it added significant weight to my daily carried items - twice again what I'd normally carry around town visiting shops, art galleries, museums, etc. It turned out to be more trouble that it was worth, and I ended up just getting rained on rather than carry it. I don't think I'd recommend it except maybe as a car accessory!

marty54: The umbrella is easy to open and close. When opened it is much larger than other foldable umbrellas I've had before. I have used it once when windy and it seems to do what it says- it didn't turn inside out. So far I'm pleased with it.

TiffTiff: Replacement Repel Umbrella looks like the photos. Brand NEW. Packaging and clear instructions included. Works great both with up arrow and down arrow. I gave this umbrella 4 Stars because my first order arrived without packaging, clear plastic cover, or instructions (Apparently someone had returned it b/c it did not work.) Upon taking the blue sleeve off, the umbrella opened immediately shooting up. VERY DANGEROUS. Fortunately, it was pointing away from me. After this event I tried to close it by pressing the down arrow. Would not close. l forced it close. Next, I tried opening it with the up arrow. Shot straight out like a missile. Very powerful. Pressed down button to close. Would not close. Tried several times without success. Called Amazon. Customer Service said, "We will replace by sending you a new Repel umbrella, and will email you a print label to send back defective umbrella, by dropping off at UPS store." I did this. Replacement Repel Umbrella arrived next day after calling Customer Service. Very pleased with this service. But also, a bit disturbing to have received an "obviously" returned defective umbrella the first time. If it's new, it should be in their packaging...

Carson: Saw it from Wirecutter and really dubious about the price, but it really impresses, especially when you get a regular one and compare it with this, you can immediately see the difference. The price also gets you amazing warranty. Mine was bought two years ago and start having issue with the shaft getting stuck when pressing down and had to press really hard to close it. I contacted the customer service and they soon sent me a replacement. Because of all this I bought another two for my parents. Glad to have this product.

EV: Really liked the style. It is small enough and I was able to attach to a my personal back when I traveled. It is a good size for one person, a little small for 2 people. Held up well in the rain. Unsure if it would hold up in wind. Description says there are vents, but the vents are basically 2 layers of the fabric. I did email them, and they responded, "Note that our solid colors have the air vent about a third of the way down the canopy, while our two-tone umbrellas have two full canopies with the air vent between the canopies." I have a two-tone umbrella, obviously. We will see how it goes. There is a warranty that I will attempt to use if it gets damaged.
