James: Let's be clear about this: I bought these because they are inexpensive. I was not expecting much: basic picture and video combined with meh motion detection. Got tired of far more expensive units growing legs and walking away, and figured these would suffice. They did not suffice; they excelled! Their small size and utter simplicity make for a combination better than the sum of it's parts. Everything extraneous has been removed, leaving a simple trail cam that does a remarkably good job. Easily concealed, long battery life, crisp video: what more could you ask for in an inexpensive, but good* quality trail cam?

* The quality would be outstanding, if not for the on/off switch. About 10 days in, one of the switches fell off, never to be seen again. The switch actually covers a tiny switch inside: fortunately a thin pair of hook removal pliers ( for fishing) allow me to still use the units. ( The second unit has a crack in the switch ; I expect it to fail any time ). Aside from this one issue, this is a solid, good performing machine: indeed, I intend to buy several more

Christy Pitard: EDIT: Review below line is for this specific camera, which isnt great. I can however say this seller has several other game cameras that I DO RECOMMEND, fulln review pending. I can definitely say that it is worth paying a few extra dollars for the better versions as they are much easier to use, hold more batteries and therefore stay functional MUCH longer. Seller responded to my previous 1 star review VERY quickly and with genuine concern so I wanted to change my review to reflect outstanding customer service. I look forward to changing this to 5 stars once I setup and use upgraded version. WATCH OUT RACOONS!

I purchased these some time ago and am finally just getting around to reviewing. I honestly did not want to feel this negatively about this item due to its affordability but it is what it is.

First, the clips and straps provided to help mount the cameras are useless. The metal snapped immediately. At this point I still was okay, again, because affordability. Then, for whatever reason, the camera requires so much energy that 4 batteries did not even last 24 hours. I am still optimistic but in the morning, on several occasions, after upgrading...

David L.David L.: I ordered the camera on June 12 of this year, and it was a pleasure for six months, revealing unexpected animal traffic in our front yard. Then, this morning, December 24, I found that the switch had failed. It will no longer slide downward to the off position.

Very disappointing. I see similar problems with the switch in other reviews. Some reviewers were able to message the seller, but I don't see how to do that.

Later: The camera's "switch" is actually a small plastic gadget that moves an ordinary slide switch, hidden inside the case. That little plastic gadget is too delicate for the job, and when it breaks it can't easily be fixed. But there's an easy work-around.

Take out the batteries and the SD card. Remove the rubber gasket (it's not glued), open up the inner case (4 screws), then remove the circuit board (5 screws). Using a thin, fine-toothed saw (coping saw or hack saw), saw off a corner of the case, so the slide switch on the circuit board will be exposed (see photo). Blow out the plastic sawdust and put everything back together.

You'll have a working camera again, the weather seal won't be affected, and the switch will be very easy to use....
