1. Yoga
Von den leichten Grundübungen das...

Amazon customer: We've had the Wii fit for just over a week and it has been used quite a lot, mainly by me - but also by my husband occasionally and by our kids (5 and 8).

The Pros
It is great fun, it's quite easy to use and most of the games are fairly easy to pick up. I am really enjoying using it at the moment.

There is loads of variety so I think we will keep using it as there is enough to keep us all interested for a while - although unless there are two screens for each type of game I have unlocked most of them after just over a week so it might be harder to stay motivated once there are no new ones coming.

I can see that it would be a great starting point for someone who doesn't normally do much exercise and wants a way of getting started gently.
It's also good for children as it encourages them to play games which are fun but also gives them a good level of activity.

Playing on this regularly would definitely improve some aspects of your fitness.

The Cons
I hate the fact that the game is obsessed with your weight and BMI. Great if you're using it as a weight loss tool, but what if you just want to use it for fun and don't need to lose weight? I...

Eva Lyford: I started using the wii fit a week ago. The yoga is actually fairly realistic - and for what I'm doing, the specific feedback based on my movements is very precise and immediately applicable. It is like working with personal trainer - one who seems oddly deaf and somewhat out of touch, and prefers a really bland gym, however. After the yoga exercises, I got an analysis that right away picked up on some core instability I have related to a former back injury. I've been doing yoga long enough that sometimes with a live trainer, I can hide that flaw that but there was no hiding from the wii. Just to see if it was giving generic feedback, I had the kids do the yoga too and it analyzed different things for them (and has a sense of humor - "You seem to have trouble with balance. Do you trip when you walk?") Even my child who is a reluctant reader is happy to puzzle out the words on screen in order to get to the activities. Given the fact that we're experiencing 100-year rains locally and play-outside time is limited, this has been a wonderful indoor activity. Additionally, the games are a lot of fun. The wii fit also does a nice job of integrating other user's Miis into the games so...

C. Petit: I purchased the Wii Fit because I wanted to become more active. In this, the Wii Fit excels. The cornerstone is the Wii Fit balance board. This board looks and acts like a scale. In fact, it has several sensors, so it can sense how you are distributing your weight on the board.

This is the core of how Wii Fit works. When you start Wii Fit, you must pick a Mii to represent you. Once you have done this, you need to enter your birthday. Then, if you want to keep your weight and records private, you may enter a password.

After this, you may choose a weight loss goal for yourself---how many pounds and how many weeks or months to achieve it. Every 2 weeks you may change this goal.

After choosing a goal, you can perform the Test. The test will measure your weight and your balance (how centered you are between your left and right feet, and how centered your weight is over your feet).

After taking the Test (you may record the results once each day), you will get a Wii Fit age. The closer you are to your ideal weight, and the better you perform on the balance and agility tests, the lower the Wii Fit age will be.

After this, you may perform some Training....

A. S. Garton: Let's be honest: it looked like this was going to be a bit of a gimmick, didn't it? A computer games console gadget that could help you get fit? Don't make me laugh! My sides are splitting!! Er, hang on..... that's because I have a stitch!

I received - at long last! - my Wii Fit software and Balance Board this week. I have to say that I am seriously impressed with the build quality, the look and the feel of the unit. It doesn't have any of the fragility that you might expect, it's big enough to be easy to stand on, and small enough to slide easily under the sofa or sideboard.

The software is a dream. It was worth waiting for, because this is "right first time". It isn't overly complicated - in fact, it's highly intuitive - and it has the same quality feel as the board and the Wii itself. I did consider sending the unit back to Amazon when it informed me that I could, possibly, be a little overweight. I thought there must be a calibration issue until I realised I had a particularly heavy handkerchief in my pocket. No, really. And I have heavy bones. It's genetic.

So, to the killer question: is this a game or a fitness tool? Well, I have spent two days working...

Picard: After months of waiting, Wii Fit finally arrived at this proud persons home today after weeks of agony! In Japan, it made record sales for the sheer speed by which it sold, but could it be as successful over here?

Upon opening the package, look out for the small yellow sticker on the top flap, advising you to take out the card-sandwich that contains the CD-Box, manuals, and batteries first. After doing so, you can carefully take out the Balance Board.

The first thing you'll notice when you receive, or find the package is the sheer weight and size of it. Adverts don't do any justice to hold solidly build the Wii Balance board, or its size! I'm actually quite flummoxed as to where i'm going to keep it, but then I realised because we have glass TV stand, it can just about slot under the bottom shelf quite neatly. The board is excellently made and is well designed - the top surface unfortunately does attract the odd bit of muck from peoples feet, so I would advise you to just rub off any fluff of your feet from the carpet before getting on it. Their are 2 slight depressions where your feet are supposed to be placed, and have a textured surface so you can feel...
