Hangtown Mark: Installed a Whirlpool water softener and according to the user manual, if you use this you will double the warranty. So it is an inexpensive way to ensure a long life to the softener and appears to have done its job.

Rene: Works great. My Rheem water softener directs you to use it quarterly. After skipping one treatment with this product, The water in my house started coming out light brown. Once I used this product, everything went back to normal.

Laura A. O.: We have been using this product since we purchased a Whirlpool Water Softener. It was an inexpensive Home Depot purchase. We got tired of the less expensive ones just not lasting very long. I do think doing this on a regular basis (we do every 4-6 months) helps. You don't really know, of course, but this last softener has lasted longer than previous ones we have owned. I also think it provides for cleaner water.
I am sure it says to do it more often than that but we do not do that.
Only con, and it would be for any of these cleaners, is you have to run the cleaning cycle which is longer and you have to run a bit of water through the pipes when done. We live in an area where the cost of water is high, but we also live in an area with immensely hard water, so we are willing to do that. Huge PLUS - unlike our previous house without a water softener, we have not replaced any fixtures in 13 years! In our last house, we would have to replace every 4-5 years! Huge PLUS!

G. Gates: Coming across a different issue with our water softener, I learned that this procedure should be done quarterly - I bet most people never do this. The package arrived promtly and it is very easy to pour in and run the cycle. Our softener has a count-down timer so you know when it is completed after which you are supposed to run cold water for 20 minutes from the closest faucet to the water softener.
