Aquasure Harmony Series Whole House Water Softener System for Cleaner, Softer Water

HdRidesOnX: Ok, I have waited 2 months to write this review as I wanted to make sure to be accurate in my assessment. This was very simple to install, it came mostly pre-assembled, with beads in tank when delivered. I am pretty handy, so you might take that with a grain of salt... (pun intended). If you are a DIY guy / gal it should be a breeze to install, although you always run into other problems when you get into any plumbing job. My favorite aspect of this unit... The controls are on top of the bead tank, and the bead tank, is NOT inside the brine tank like many of the others out there. Salt water is highly corrosive, and your electronics WILL be affected after just a couple of years of exposure to this environment. This is how the last 2 of my "Brand Name" Water Softeners have died, after lasting only 2-3 years each. This unit uses far less salt, but... I do not think that it softens the water quite as well. So, that said, I recommend setting it at a higher grain count for your application, and after doing that it seems to be softening the water almost as well as my "Mall Corner Store Brand Name" softener did. grandam888: I've been in water treatment for 15 years. Six years of that has been spent in industrial water treatment with RO systems up to 1600gpm, pretreatment by softeners the size of pick up trucks. Various chemical injections and multimedia filtration. Primarily in the oil, gas and power plant industries.

This system is very small in comparison but the science and process is the same.

My house hold water treatment system is as follows: city water (surface water)-meltblown cartridge-carbon block-carbon block- softener (Aquasure 32000 grain)- drinking water RO.

Please let me elaborate on a few things to make sure you are setup for success.

Install a chlorine removal system prior to the softener. This will extend the life of your resin. Any whole house carbon filter will be sufficient. Stay below 2ppm chlorine.

Install a sediment catching filter (string wound or melt blown). This will will likely help with differental pressure on softener, cannot confirm. However, will contribute to a better quality water overall.

Peform hardness test prior to purchase for proper sizing. This is a 32000 grain softener. It has the potential to remove 32000 grains of...

Arthur Miller: The water softener once set up works great giving soft water to our home and regenerating when needed. You do need to have a water test done beforehand so that you know the hardness of your water. There is a calculation needed so you program the gallons between reigns correctly and your water hardness is needed for that calculation. The installation and programing was easy. Remember to follow the ending instruction on how to turn back on the water to the house with the bypass valves off at first. I goofed and turned on the water to the house before reading the final instructions and sent some residue through my house!

My likes: Runs as expected, easy set up, good price point for what you get.
My dislikes: No battery back up. So when the power goes off you will need to reset the time and possibly reprogram all the settings again. Could be solved by a simple 9v battery, but this unit does not have that. A continuous lit up display. These units are placed usually in utility closets that are dark so seeing the display is difficult. Finally the bypass valves stick way out and are held in place by a couple of metal clips and O rings for seals. Using 1" pipe this easily puts...
