Young LarsenYoung Larsen: The media could not be loaded. I like it simplicity, just plug in and used remote to flame on, that's it. I like the flame effects, nice for the price. Went to shops, and they were 800 dollar ones, their flame was faky, didn't like, so took a chance with this one, had a good, high rating. I am happy with it so far, for the money!

Well, just installed it into the fireplace today. Super easy - just plug-n-play. No need for instructions as it's way to easy. Just press the buttons on the remote and you're on your way.
PROs: Flame is pretty realistic looking. Super easy install and great product quality for the price.
CONS: The "on" noise level can be worked on. Wish it had realistic crackling noise as this would set this product apart from the others. Also, the heat output vents could be longer/larger. Too small to heat up most rooms, even a small living room space.

To be frank, this purchase turned out to be much better than expected! The pictures make it look kinda cheap and chintzy, but it is surprisingly not the case at all! It feels well made, solid and looks much more realistic than I thought it would. Most people have to look closely to figure out if it's real or not. It works well, but doesn't heat the room as well as I had hoped. I'm not sure if that's a function of product design / output, or heat loss from the chimney or the location given the fact that I'm used to my old space heater being a few feet away (rather than across the room in the fireplace).
My only complaint is with respect to the remote and controls, which has a very poor interface. There are three functions that can be adjusted; 1) light output (brightness of fake fire), 2) temperature and 3) a timer. All three functions share the same two digit display, so changing one function will override the display another function setting. We have found ourselves using the timer much more than anticipated (almost a must), which I think is a function of it's location in the fireplace where it's easy to forget to turn it off. Given the singe...

J. Mazzulla: I recently received this item and so far it's running great. The timer for the "flame" and heat functions is very useful; I can only use it for as long as I need it and then it turns itself off. My only gripe is that the fan is a little louder than I would like, but it's a small complaint.

Gabrielle StarrGabrielle Starr: My grandmother has a beautiful living room fireplace, but she stopped using it after my grandfather passed away when I was a little girl (in the 90s). His birthday was November 24, but our family has always celebrated it on Thanksgiving, so this year, I decided to surprise my grandmother by putting an electric fire in the fireplace.
This turned out better than I ever imagined. Altogether, set-up only took about 10 minutes. That includes carrying the old grate to the garage, unboxing and placing the machine, and finding an extension cord (my grandmother's house is pretty old, so there aren't as many electric outlets and this product's cord isn't very long).
When turned on, this is absolutely stunning and quite realistic, especially because the back has this function that casts realistic flame effects onto the wall.
The heat function works well to add warmth to this large room. You can hear the fan, but it's not overly noisy at all, nor is it unpleasant. The remote control is quite easy to use, as are the controls on the actual device.
Everyone in the family loves it; my mom is already talking about getting one for the summer cottage's fireplace. It's...
