Photos make it look matte but it's shiny, at least the metal areas.
Most reviews mention the cheap plastic legs but the plastic door frame feels cheaper than the legs.
The control display and remote feels cheap and not user-friendly but does the job. The thermostat only goes up requiring you to come full circle if you need to reduce the temperature đĄď¸. There's no thermostat control on the remote, only on and off.
Overall, I'm pleased with the product so far, but deducted a star for using cheaper parts. They should've used metal for the legs and door frame, improved function on the control display, and less cheap looking remote.

AnnetteAnnette: Really impressed and happy with this small electric fireplace. Good quality and the flame is the best I have seen compared to other products. Heats well and quiet compared to others. I am happy I spent the extra dollars for this one as it doesnât look cheap compared to others I have seen for less.

Amit: Received the heater on time. The heater worked as advertised. However, the base unit of the remote came split into two. I had put the feedback to the seller for request of replacement remote. However, due to technical issues I could not see the replies that the seller had sent me that the replacement unit for the remote was already shipped. The seller actually contacted me on the phone and left me a voice message regarding the eta of the arrival of the replacement unit. I thank them for that and I must say that it was impressive.
I will add that once I have the remote unit as promised I will change the rating to 5 stars. But so far, very impressed for the service. Thank you
Follow up comment: The seller sent me a replacement remote control unit which actually arrived before the time that the seller has given me as the ETA. I will give you 5 stars. I plan to buy one more unit in the near future. Amazing service and product. Will recommend it to anyone who needs it.

Jeff M.: My bullet points:
1. Arrived without any physical damage.
2. All parts needed for assembly (just attaching the feet) were present and included 3 extra screws.
3. The magnetic door magnet strongly holds the door where access to the control panel is located.
4. There are 5 "flame" brightness settings. The highest one (F5) should be brighter by about 30%.
5. The remote control has the ability to turn down the brightness of the flames, but will not turn it fully off. You must turn the unit off completely with the control panel or remote. A missed opportunity if you only want to have the heater on and no "log" lighting effects and also to save wear to the bulbs. The F0 setting ("glowing" logs only) does turn off the spinning rod that creates the "flames". The remote control itself is small with only four buttons. Mine seems to need to be pointed in a certain direction at the heater from 8ish feet away to get it to work consistently. Again, not a deal-breaker. Just an observation. Your mileage may vary.
6. The spinning rod that creates the flame effects can be heard (@F1-F5) in a quiet room when the heating element is not working. I find it mildly annoying (but by no...

ReadyForThe80s: I've had my black one for a month so far and I still love it. At the strongest heat level, the top only gets SLIGHTLY warm. I can comfortably keep my hand on it even after it running for an hour. I think it's well made and the door and feet are made of plastic but the rest is metal.
This thing is only for looks. It doesn't heat up a room too much and unless you're sitting close to it, you won't feel hardly any heat.
The heater is quiet. To me, it sounds a bit more quieter and softer than a blow dryer at the lowest setting being used in the next room or as loud as my oven's convection fan. The fake flames' motor is fairly quiet too and barely delectable from across my medium-sized kitchen. It's a low hum/buzz.
I take off one star because I think it needs more fake logs in it for a more realistic look. I'm going to add some real ones as well as buy furniture risers. I also wish the temperature could be adjusted with the remote instead of just being on/off.
Ten months later and sttill a 4-star item -
This is still working as well as the day I got it. I often keep the flames on when I'm in the kitchen for that cosy look but I don't use the heating feature that often...

Cat LadyCat Lady: *UPDATE* 2/2/18
Here's a little update. It's been about 5 months now since buying this heater. Our winter was terribly cold & being the first year without central heat the entire house was freezing. I used this heater in the bedroom where me and my 3 year old sleep. It kept us very warm at night even during the coldest of nights (lowest at night was 9 degrees F). What I want to add to my initial review is that using space heaters to zone heat will make your electric bill go up. My electric bill for the entire month it was freezing cold came out to be $280 when normally with central heat (both gas & electric) it would be under $200. I did run 4 space heaters (this one, a Lasko, and a radiator heater, plus one small 1500 watt utility heater) in 2 bedrooms, the living room & the washroom. We are still in some cold weather and I have learned to close off rooms that are not used, also put up curtains to close off rooms without a door (like the hallway that connects to the living room and the kitchen door that goes into the den) which helps to keep the warm air in that certain area without allowing in drafts. Closing off sections of the house we are not using in the cold...

Strong Postulate: We have had many years of problem-free enjoyment with this fireplace. We purchased a second one and then had need to replace a broken part. I called Twin-Star Home, the manufacturer of the unit. Within 24 hours I received a call back from Brittany, who was extremely helpful. While they did not have the part, she quickly agreed to replace the entire unit. She was friendly, helpful and very responsive. The customer service we received is equal to the quality of the fireplace we purchased. Both outstanding, five stars all around!
