Derek Metcalf: It's a lot of money for some basic functionality, but it works incredibly well with no fuss. As with all high-powered blenders, there's a little finesse in getting certain foods to have blade contact, but the included plunger is sufficient to get most items to the bottom. My favorite part is actually that there aren't any specific Ice, Smoothie, Soup options, it's just on and off. The pulse takes a split-second to actually start the motor, which can be slightly annoying for rapid pulsing. I've never had an issue with the size of the carafe; only once I've had to do a large pot of soup in two batches. I don't think there's anything I'll ever do that will require the maximum setting on this thing.

K. Lanoue: Liked my daughter's Vitamix so we invested in one for ourselves. Powerful as all hell. It is noisy when in use but it gets the job done! We make lots of healthy smoothies using flax seeds and other small ingredients and this blender grinds them all nicely. Worth the price, especially since you can add water and clean the pitcher right on the blender!

Luv shopping: This blender works great and in my opinion is easier to clean than other blenders as you don’t have to remove any parts and put them back together. Just rinse out add a little dish soap and water and blend for 30 seconds then rinse and let dry. It makes great smoothies and blends all the ingredients quickly and uniformly even if they are frozen such as fruit. It is pricier than some other blenders but should last for years and the convenience of easy cleaning is well worth it to me.

Amazon Customer: Why would Vitamix not inform users in the instruction book that the jug doesn't lock in?
I was holding it down thinking it was faulty and may fall off.
Google informed me that it was normal and that holding it down could damage it.
Shouldn't have to google such an important piece of info.
Including it in the instruction book can save hours of unnecessary troubleshooting!

Susan D.: This is an awesome blender. Does everything I need: smoothies, hummus, and grinds seeds and oats to powder. I especially like the fact that it is not digital, but has a manual on/off switch and knob that you turn for speed control. It is the perfect choice if you want a blender.

Aging Boomer: The E310 is exactly the blender we were looking for. It is a simple, 48 oz container version of Vitamix's perfected blender design. Many reviewers say the 5200 is the unbeatable classic in Vitamix's lineup, but the 5200 cannot be purchased with a 48 oz container for use by just one person or a couple. The E310 offers the same motor and drive system, and a similar ability to handle small volume tasks, as the 5200.

Some reviewers say it is loud or hard to clean. Now that I have used it, I find it is smooth, powerful, and very quiet compared to other blenders I have used. It remains reasonably quiet right up to top speed if you are not chopping nuts or ice cubes. With its shorter 48 oz container, it is easier to clean around the blade with a small spatula than the taller 64 oz container on the 5200. The newer, low profile, 64 oz models in Vitamix's line-up are great for people who have larger volume blending tasks and want the presets and other features offered by those models, but the simple rotary speed dials of the 5200 and the E310 are just what we were looking for. The 7500 offers the same simple controls as the E310, but Vitamix does not sell that model with a 48 oz...
