Jack Schelin: I did not buy mine at amazon but rather directly from the company. This is one of the best purchases I've ever made---have had mine since 2008 and it still runs like it's new. It's absolutely ideal for fruit & vegetable smoothies and (next to the coffeepot & refrigerator) is the most-used appliance in my kitchen. If you want or need to consume substantial portions of greens & fruits and like them in drinkable form, get this. It does so many other things so well (including self-cleaning) that there isn't enough space here fully to describe it.

Evelyn O.: Vitamin blenders are expensive but are probably the best. It's powerful, and a bit noisy and scary when you have it at top blending power. I've had mine for over 10 years. Bought one for my daughter as a gift.

Bhakti-rider: This is a heavy-duty blender that gets the job done and will last many years. I do wear a hearing protector (and remove my hearing aids) when I run it, which makes it okay sound-wise.

Megan Jamer: I actually bought a Ninja, supposedly of equal power, instead because it was a third of the price...and then returned it because my green smoothie was anything but smooth and full of small chunks.

So for simple fruit smoothies I'm sure those cheaper blenders do fine, but if you have anything tougher than that, a Vitamix just has no equal...my smoothies with a whole bunch of kale including stalks are now silky smooth and even though it was literally three times the cost of the Ninja it feels totally worth it.
Of course for a lot of people they just do not have the money for one of these, but if you do you will not regret it!

Rachel: We have had a Magic Bullet, Cuisinart Stick Blender, and a Ninja with cups & large blender. My family blends A LOT and my husband has destroyed ever blender with his thick smoothies. The power and capacity of the Vitamix is amazing! So easy to clean, use, and gives the best consistencies. I made the best milk alternatives this week (creamy without grainy particles), blended oats into flour for muffins, made a perfect acai bowl, and smoothies. Highly recommend! We got a cheaper price on the white one (not sure why?) and althought it doesn't "match" our kitchen, we don't care. Highly recommend!

js: This machine is amazing and completely worth the price. We had a cheap Ninja blender for 7 or 8 years and found that we hardly ever used it. It just wasn't functional. We'd make a strawberry smoothie and all the little strawberry seeds would still be there. I found the food processor was way more functional than the Ninja. Fast forward to a month ago, and we finally bought this Vitamix. It is AMAZING! It blends everything super smooth. The only thing that I find little tiny bits persisting is raspberry and blackberry seeds. Eveything else is totally smooth. We've started making at least one smoothie a day for breakfast, use it for soups, pureeing home made jams, etc, and it is a breeze to clean up. Rinse out quickly with water, fill just under half way with water, add a quirt of soap, and run at full speed for 30-45ec. I wish I had bought this sooner. This is not a quiet machine, but it works so quickly and so effectively, who cares!?
