Amazon Customer: Ok so I didn’t (yet) go through this book. But I can tell you that it is the BEST books out there. I think I know a bit about where he’s going in the book and it is perfect for me. Bought this book for two friends, too. I only wish that the author would write similar books that are as clear, concise, and elegant.

Scott: This book is very good. Like it is clearly stated in the description you need to know open chords and bar chords. It teaches you to learn 3 and four string portions of the scale.just a little at a time. Important learn the root notes.. always know where it is. It is your home. also learn the note names of the scale on your guitar of the scale. Visualize the pattern.. a little at a time makes it easy to remember. Then you will be well on your way. It will make sense to follow the book. If you learn the notes of the a minor pentatonic it will help learn the notes on the fret board so when you try a different key you should also learn the notes in that key. For instance a minor pentatonic notes are are A C D E G. If you say the notes you play. You will start to learn where these five notes are and it will help find the notes on your guitar. Then when learn those notes you always know where the notes are.. move to another key and do the same. Doing this will help find every note on the fret board. So for instance learning a minor pentatonic you will know where every note of that to the 12th fret and we should know that that guitar repeats at the 12 fret. Very important know the name...

Larry Molter: Contrary to what the 1-star reviewers say about this book, for me, it was an epiphany. I've spent a lot of time learning the 'boxes' of the minor pentatonic scale. Had to remember the patterns and I couldn't.

When I first open this book, I was disappointed that it was referring to 'boxes'. However, READ THE BOOK A LITTLE MORE and you'll find out that the 'box' names are for reference only and the author is really trying to get the student to understand that you don't need the bloody boxes. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ROOT NOTES AND INTERVALS. Once you know the key and where the root notes are on the fretboard, the relationship of the scale notes to the root are the same on any string. Yes, crossing the 'B' string goofs things up a bit, though.

So, yes, who needs boxes. Find the root, and work with the intervals. Easy peasy. I honestly had a light bulb moment with this book. You really have to read it and understand what the author is trying to say for it to make an impact. For me, it simplified playing the minor penta scale 1000 times. And the same principles can be used to master the major penta scale as well. Just different intervals.

Dianne L.: I’ve followed this author via net for long time, excellent knowledge of theory and has great command of the language.
The small “book” has a hard paper binding, and as it’s mailed in pouch mailer it arrived smashed and bent up.
Still legible, but not as easy to use while playing that’s for certain…. I paid for standard shipping, if you decide on this I’d advise contacting the seller to ascertain if a more protective container can be purchased- or better yet get an e book version.
