Amazon Customer: A wonderful guide diving into a cultural subject that inspires and encourages while also explaining how it leads and guides Finnish people in times of strife and difficulty. I've been struggling lately, and leaning back on my ancestors' culture and hardiness helped more than I thought it would. A mixture of self-help and cultural anthropology, a great read!

Leo: Very optimistic the title I used for my review. But I did find the book might be very encouraging. Sometimes we don't use our inner courage because we're afraid of offending someone, and the book helps us see that we can both have courage to do what we know I right while still been considerate to others. I found it very useful and will read it again in the future.
As a Brazilian who has lived in the Nordic countries, it always fascinated me how the culture on countries like Finland encourage people instead of making them believe that they shouldn't do anything because of fear. I moved back to Brazil and got a bit lost because the people around me and my family always discourage me of doing basically everything and they keep me remembering of the risks of doing so. I feel like I started slowly unlocking my life now, looking for my inner sisu and going for what I think is right without using the same attitude of belittling people as people might use with me.
Thanks for all the wisdom and the examples of brave achievements made by people shared on this book. And thanks to myself for deciding to take the time to read it and try and find my inner sisu.

Ashton: I didnt know very much about Finland before going into this and have a lot of respect for the country and culture after reading. It also got me thinking about my own mindset without being overly inspirational like many self help books are. If you want some introspection and to learn some things about this wonderful country this is the book for you.

Angie Pedersen: Not very meaty but provides a basic overview of the concept. Images are pretty and aspirational but seem like they were added to make the book longer

JENnIFER: This book didn't give me the answers I was looking for; but did give me 'headings' for some of the things I do think about!

Swagata: Good read but some pages have black font colour on dark pages which was very difficult to read.

Horselady: This is a rather short book, but I enjoyed it for the most part . It was interesting to hear about how other countries view the world. As Americans I think we just see everything thru our eyes and forget there are other perspectives. I had never heard of Sisu, so that was a new concept. A good bit of the practical advice is something we've all heard before.

I found it very interesting how the Finns embrace the outdoors, no matter what the weather. I guess because they live in such a harsh climate, they have learned to adapt. Children are out in the weather, even temps that we would consider too cold to be outside. I know here, if it drops below 15, schools are being delayed or cancelled.

It was a bit inspirational that they are a happy people but don't go around with goofy smiles. I think happiness was rather redefined here. I find it fascinating to hear how the Scandanavian countries live. It was a good, but rather short read and I would recommend it, especially if you are struggling in the rut of every day life.
