Lady from the Mountain: Wow. This book took me by surprise. It lives up to the title 100%! So complete. So well-written. So easy to understand and implement.
Hats off to the author! Well done!!
The reference charts in the back make it SIMPLE to find all of the planetary locations for the time you were born…it goes far beyond just identifying and defining your sun, moon and ascendant (rising) signs, and assists in finding other specific planetary locations to pinpoint exactly who you are at a granular level. With this book, you’ll be able to draw your own chart with all the planetary locations (Venus, Mercury, etc.) with ease (and trust…it’s super fun and satisfying to create your chart with your own hand). It’s therapeutic! You won’t need the assistance of a astrologer or even the internet.
I’d recommend using highlighters in the book for ease in re-finding applicable info (you’ll probably go back and forth a lot, like I did), and also, buying colored pencils for drawing the houses in your own personal chart will make your finished product really fun to look at. Truly…I’m a nitpicky, precise Virgo and I was astounded by this book. It is crazy helpful and it’s SO...

Natalie 🦇: If you’re looking for a beginner book on astrology, I would recommend this one. As big and bulky as this book is, it’s not dry to read and can easily be separated into sections to flick through instead of being read from cover to cover. It covers all the basics, planets, traits, zodiac correspondences, glyphs etc. It isn’t the only book you’ll ever need, as once you’ve started getting into astrology seriously you’ll want to explore specific areas further and in more depth, but for a starter book that will keep you busy and learning for a while? It’s the only one you’ll need right now.

Courtney: Great book, a lot of great information to learn, has everything you could need as a beginner. Downside is the pages feel quite thin, so be careful when using.

Amazon Customer: I decided I wanted to learn more about astrology once I discovered what a natal chart was, and as someone who had only ever looked into sun signs and the horoscopes you get in magazines or online, I found this book extremely interesting and informative.
It covers a wide range of subjects like origins of horoscopes, relationship compatibility and has pages on each sun sign and then each planet and what it means in each sign and house.
I found it really interesting to highlight information on kindle and then go back through to record all the information based on my natal chart which was surprisingly accurate.
My main take away from the book was that every planet is important and has an influence because you’re not just your sun sign, you are a combination of the influences of every planet in your chart, and also the idea of identifying the strengths and weaknesses in your chart which you can use to your advantage once you know what they are.
The book doesn’t have much information on Chiron and only basic info on the north and south node, but I think it’s perfect for people who are beginners. If you find you want to learn more in depth you can look online or for...

Carsten Blackmon: I got the 2001 edition of this book a number of years ago. I may not believe in astrology, but I find it fascinating in various ways, including the psychology of each sign. And this book was really wonderful, as it took a look at the influences of each planet through each sign and explored different possible aspects of human beings. So I liked it for that. And when I found out there was this updated version, I decided, "why not get it?". Actually, I just got this item today.
Now the 2001 version was the one with the dark blue cover and had a single zodiac wheel on the front, as opposed to the light blue one here with the wheel split in half. The other immediate difference is that this new version is square shaped rather than the usual rectangle, so that's a little disorienting. Not bad, but it's something you have to get used to. A quick look through it shows that much of the book is the same as far as the text for signs and planets, but I didn't expect huge changes there. Some of the celebrity pictures are different. The new editions still explores each sign, and their strengths, weaknesses, and how they work, and that's still really entertaining. It stimulates the...
