Amazon Customer: this is my first review ever. i've been into the program for about two weeks and the duration of my sleep has increased by 1.5h on average which is a huge improvement i must say. i'm following the 12 rules to a letter, i am even writing affirmations every morning! (of which i am still sceptic about). i also recently bought an audio version of this book to listen to it occasionally in the gym or when taking a walk. i am off of medication now and at first i had a few bumpy night but i did not much matter because i learnt not to obsess about sleepless nights. i am far from being a normal sleeper but now i have confidence that one day i will become one.
there is another self-help insomnia book which taught me how to deal with fear. "The Sleep Book: How to Sleep Well Every Night" by Guy Meadows.
if your skeptical about Sasha's program, buy this book, read it in one go and ask for a refund. but don't just give up on it for your own sake. try it for yourself and see how you feel after two weeks into the program. also do not neglect relaxation techniques. i for one meditate for 30 min every morning and do Yin yoga and progressive body relaxation towards the bedtime. i wish...

JB: This is a solid book that has already started to help with my sleep issues. I've suffered from insomnia for 3 years, much of that time getting 2-3 hours of pitiful, restless sleep and feeling horrible the next day. I've tried many solutions, including antidepressants, sleeping pills, therapy, etc., all to no avail. I don't share the author's disdain for the established medical treatments of insomnia, but can echo the fact that none of those methods worked for me.
The reason I love this book is that it contains advice that resonates with me logically. So much of the well-meaning sleep advice out there nowadays has to do with going to bed at the same time every night, having the room pitch black, and a host of other things that have no bearing at all on the quality of your sleep. Have any of you ever wondered why these perfect sleep conditions are necessary when none of them seemed to matter when you were younger? Me too. Back before stress took over our lives, we were able to fall dead asleep and stay that way for eight hours, even sleeping in a recliner by a lamp, with the television going. If you change the sleeping conditions now without changing the stress, you are still...

Pegasus75: I finished reading this eBook on Friday (4 days ago) and I can definitely say that something has changed, something quite amazing. The essence of Sasha Stephens' message about insomnia is clear: stop breathing life into the Insomnia Monster by thinking and talking negatively about it (either to yourself or others).
I am a nutritional therapist and for years I have used my skills in nutrition to ease my insomnia...and I did pretty well! I used to barely sleep at all before studying nutritional medicine. I used to suffer from sleep paralysis, nightmares, all the forms of sleep disturbance (waking early, waking often, not falling asleep for hours, if at all). Over the years I then began to understand and practice sleep hygiene and my diet was near-perfect. Eventually I gave up alcohol and caffeine completely and I regularly exercised. I constantly worried though, why wasn't my sleep perfect when I did everything right? I had run countless lab tests on various hormones (cortisol, melatonin, thyroid hormones etc etc). I discovered imbalances and corrected them through diet, yet still I worried and thought, "why don't I sleep 7-8 hours every night?" "Why am I tired most days?" On...

Russell: I love this book. Have suffered chronic insomnia for over 15 years and this has cured it within 1 week. In reality it may take me a year or more to completely see it off but I have changed my way of thinking. The honest truth is I could tell you what the book says in a nutshell here - think positively and banish all negative thoughts - but you need to go into depth about the reasons behind why the author (herself a recovered chronic insomniac) came up with her method.
In terms of a actual solution though which can help anyone suffering from this limiting and horrendous condition (which is frighteningly common) I don't think it is possible to come up with a better way to tackle it. Abandoning all pills, traditional therapies, 'crutches' (as she puts it) such as lavender pillows and such like means that if you can beat your problem you will have peace at night forever - simply because you a re relying on your own inner confidence to guide you going forward.
So embrace the effortless sleep method because, even though the title is actually not descriptive of how you do it (it actually takes a lot of effort to reject all quick fixes) you will sleep effortlessly in the...

avey: I've read the reviews and the people who complain, they all have that in common: complain, whine, sulk, blame another person for their problems. Always placing blame on someone else, not taking responsibility. While I sympathize with their issues, their problems, and how horrible this thing called "insomnia" is, these people actually like to whine, complain, and wallow in their self pity and exhaustion of insomnia. Sasha states all of this in the book, but to these people they still believe there is some outside source, magical cure that will save them from this horrible thing called "insomnia" and "how dare you say that insomnia is my fault!" Guess what? It is. There is no cure, your own mind is the cure as your own mind caused this. As Sasha says and I agree, it is your own fault you have insomnia. It's your mind isn't it?? Who else has your mind and your individual thoughts, creates your anxiety, why you get upset about something, how you think, etc?? If you don't control your mind, your mind will control you.
As I said I do sympathize with these people about insomnia. It really sucks, and is horrible to go through. I know I've gone through it for a long time and had...

Stavrakis 111: I had been a chronic insomniac for 2 years. It had all started when as a result of a great deal of stress that I was then under, I started to get violent headaches, which made me feel as if my head was going to explode, these headaches were with me all day and even into the night, I was thus unable to get any sort of worthwhile sleep. Doctors thought that I might have had a stroke, Parkisons disease, Lymes disease, etc, you name it I had it, or at least the doctors thought I might have it. The results of all the MRIs, CT scans, and blood tests I had showed that I was physically very healthy. All this resulted in my stress levels staying high or going even higher. Eventually, due to no medical intervention, the headaches started to subside of their own accord, they had been part of my life for one and a half years. I thought that now I would be able to get some real sleep. But it was not to be, it seems that I had lost the skill of sleeping, this is the best way that I can put it. Sleep is a skill, and once lost it is very difficult to recover. I was now a chronic insomniac, and I even stupidly prided myself on the fact that I could go for weeks, even months, with no real sleep, I...
