This alarm is easy to install, has excellent customer support, and is made with high-quality materials, making it one of the best Carbon Monoxide Detectors on the market. With its advanced technology and superior design, you can rest assured that your home will be safe and secure.Jeffrey H.: I purchased these combo detectors to replace the USI-7795 that my house came with when built in 2009, The 7795 started giving us fits and false alarms in about 2013, and after calls to USI for help troubleshooting I gave up and just removed them from the ceiling leaving the ugly wire e harness hanging down. (I still had 5 USI-1204 smoke detectors in use) All the detectors were wired together so I wasn't sure what type of compatibility issues I might run into if I tried to mix and match brands, I knew i didn't want to buy more USI-7795s. So nothing happened for 3 years which is sad. Move up to December 2016, and the USI-1204 smoke detectors started with false alarms. I admit I have been doing some light remodeling in the house that involved some sanding. I never thought to cover the detectors. Also after some research, I was reminded that these type of detectors do have a short life span. I assumed since they were warranted for 5 years, the expected lif must be close and mine were 7 years old with lots of extra dust. I checked the USI website, and the 7795 had been discontinued and replaced by the MICN109, which also offered a natural gas detection. The website...

Joe:
USI Electric detectors were installed by our electrical contractor when we built our house. This model, MICN109, was installed in the basement where our natural gas line comes in and near where the gas water heater is. I purchased an additional one from Amazon after we moved in and installed it upstairs as I wanted natural gas and CO detection there as well since we have gas appliances. I have other models of USI Electric that are just smoke/fire detectors that so far have not failed so it seems it is just the natural gas detector that has a problem, in my experience.
These "Made in China" units seem to work well for 12 to 24 months. Then they seem to fail with a continuous natural gas alarm. This one that failed was replaced 16 months ago by the company and I only had to pay postage to send it back but with the latest failure, I was told that I had to pay postage to mail the unit back AND include an $11.00 dollar check. I told the customer service rep "Michelle" that that didn't seem fair to me to have to pay a "warranty fee" and that the warranty information didn't say anything about that. She indicated the warranty info talked about postage and...

omiaqt: All my smoke detectors were past their 10 year life, so I bought two of the USI MICN109 Hardwired Smoke/CO2/Gas detectors for hallway/basement... and two regular smoke detectors for my bedrooms. After shutting off the power and checking with a non-contact tester...I changed the pigtails...I would recommend stripping another 1/4" off the wires, as it will make wrapping the stranded wire around the solid house wire better contact when you add the wire nuts. Once I changed the base plate I pulled the battery tab and mounted the units. Once the power was restored...all unit synced and are working well. Update...one of the units malfunctioned after 1 year. I called the Company and they replaced it within a week. The new one is working great!

Russell D. Ebbing: These are the most solid welbuilt goof proof alarms I have installed. They come vacuum packed, battery installed, and with dust covers for those still within the remodeling process. They are wired and battery backed up. They include pig tails to which are easily connected to the unit after making the connections. As a landlord, I like the idea of over killing with fire, co, and gas detection for myself, temnants, and to impress inspectors. I figure by making my rentals safer than my own house better protects me and my investment against picky lawers. The only issue I might have is there is little chance of remembering what all the alarm patterns mean, but if you think about it, if the allrms are going off, one really should not be concerned to what the alam is for and just get out! These units seem are smart enouph to eliminate nuisance alarms, don't know, so far there has been none.

Louisa Filomarino Cauvin: I replaced a hard-wired-with-battery-backup smoke alarm by USI with this 3-function smoke, carbon monoxide and natural gas alarm. I used to have to replace the battery in the smoke alarm each year. This alarm is also hard-wired like the previous one, but it seems one does not put in a battery. It seems that it has a 10-year battery pre-installed. (It seems a bit hard to believe.) I guess after 10 years one needs to replace the whole item. Thus far I have not had any false alarms. It was easy to install because the previous alarm (smoke alarm only) was the same brand.
