Timothy R.: This is absolutely the best book out there on visual diagnosis of lameness in horses. I say that as a veterinarian who practices sports medicine as well as equine bodywork. I wish I had had this book available as a vet student. This is no "lightweight" manual intended only for the horse owner, despite the title. This is text that is detailed, methodical and well organized in its thinking appropiate for vets, trainers and owners alike. It will take some work and thinking things over to work your way through this text, but it will be well worth it for any horse owner. I think it should be a required read for anyone training horses or riding them competitively, and frankly most vets could probably learn a thing or two from studying this manual. This is not merely for the "layman." Don't be fooled by the title. It is just the right length and comes with nice diagnostic algorithms in chart form as well as links to video. It doesn't dumb things down but also doesn't require one to be a vet either. Serious but not overwhelming.

Joanne Kramer: Great descriptions and videos of various lamenesses. Perfect for building observational skills. Recommended for anyone interested in learning more about lameness.

BMF: This book is no joke. It is dense, filled with veterinary terms and has many video links to actual examples. It is a wealth of information and helped me when discussing a horse's lameness with the vet two days ago. It is not an easy read but it is invaluable. HIGHLY recommend!

Ms. Sophie Forsyth: I adore this book, it's so informative and has exact videos you can scan a code with your QR scanner to view. Super book I recommend heavily. Also think it's a great accompanying book to essential hoof book by Christina Cline and Susan Kauffmann. Both when used together really open your eyes and mind to what we put horses feet through on a daily basis and things that can go wrong.

cocopuff: If you are looking for a multimedia approach to educating yourself about detecting lameness in horses this book is ideal. The book is very well written and organized with numerous photos and diagrams as well as video examples integrated into the text. I could not get my phone to scan the barcodes but all of the videos are available at getsound.com/tutorials. I find it much easier to look at videos on my computer anyway. It is obvious that this book is the result of profound dedication to and love for the horse.

Debranne Pattillo: This is the text I have been waiting for a veterinarian to write. There are videos supporting the discussion (you scan the code with your phone), illustrations, photos and charts.
This book was not written so owners, trainers and for that matter, other health care professionals can diagnose. The bottom of the cover says it all: “Tools for prompt recognition, accurate assessment and proactive management.”
In the introduction the author writes:
“The primary objective of this book is to shorten the time frame between the onset of your horse’s problem and your recognition of it.”
It is wonderful to see that someone has taken the time to write guidelines so the caregiver can get their steed the intervention by the veterinarian before the horse develops a larger problem or secondary issues.
I highly recommend this book to everyone! It will be on Equinology's recommendation list for our students. Thank you Dr. Grisel!

Amazon Customer: Easily the best textbook out there. Highly accurate in content and with clear and easy to follow descriptions and video links. Not really for the regular layman. However, should become a mandatory text for all veterinarian students and lameness specialists, trainers, and bodyworkers.
